Location, Location

Rhinos don’t live in houses in the Wild. You probably knew that instinctively. ‘Indoors’ is an alien concept.

But that doesn’t mean We Rhinos have never seen an Urban Setting. We have, though they’re confusing. We drift by after sunset sometimes. So much stuff We can’t eat… what is that about?

We can theorize about Urbans when We are of a mind to do it and create pretend ones. But We still can’t eat them.

Penny for your thoughts…

Advice is easy to come by, and most of the time We Rhinos curl our lips and make rude faces when offered much of it. Also rude noises. We say “pooh pooh to you and your Advice!”

On the other hand, Rhinos sometimes find ourselves in Surprising Situations. A fine plan goes awry, making Us reassess our shemes. We gulp. Repeatedly.

At these times, the idea of Advice from someone with Experience and Insight would be, and is, welcome for sure. Then We say, “Please.”

Literary Accordionism

Alice, of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ fame, had an unusual collection of experiences, a surprising number of which involved shifting sizes, mega-tall to quite short. What triggered these changes is attributed to cookies, drinks, mushrooms, and who knows what all. One minute Alice is one size, turn the page and she’s another.

What makes Alice’ Inner Rhino so obvious is that she notices her transformation, but does not panic. She looks around for solutions, and when none presents itself, she presses onward. We ask you, what more Rhinoid Determination could she demonstrate? Cool in the face of Confusion. Mostly Mannerly, despite Provocation.

Sounds just like Adolescence to Us.

Peering back

Rhinos have been around for 50 million years, so it may be understandable that our perspective of Olde Tyymes differs from our Readers. There is lot of Time back there to examine and appreciate.

However, Rhinos always need to get on with Today’s Assignments, primarily Fine Dining. So We keep our curiosity under control, lest fond Memories choke Common Sense.

We Rhinos are, and obviously have been, big fans of Kite Flying. And yes, Papyrus makes a fine kite. Check it out.

The Limit

Mr. Lewis Carroll wrote two biographic accounts about Alice, one an Adventure in Wonderland and the other Through the Looking Glass. Rhinos find the first book compelling, but are puzzled why Alice went back for more. A glutton for punishment?

Our point today is that Alice clearly had plenty of Inner Rhino; in both biographies, she gets fed up with being jerked around. She stands up and says, in effect, “Knock it off, you Maniacs”.

We like these refusals to be bullied. Very Rhino, say We.

Rabbit Hole

Lewis Carroll’s Alice is a calendar girl for all sensible folk, given that Alice seems to be the only sane character in an impossible situation ruled by madness, tantrums, and chronic nonsense.

From time to time We Rhinos find ourselves at a loss on how to make sense of the world as it appears.

The choices often look like a) hold on for improved conditions or b) indulge in a Primal Scream. Each choice has its fans.

Pondering

It is true that Rhinos are often thought of as the Mammal of Mystery. And part of that mystery has been deveoped by Rhinos ourselves. To any attentive person, We are entirely understandable, pretty much.

To the casual observer, Rhinos are eaten whole like an animal cracker. If Rhinos dismissed human history and accomplishment, not to mention temperament and their niche in Nature, many of our Readers would be shocked.

If We Rhinos are mysterious, it is because We are complex, multi-faceted, varied. It takes effort for Rhinos to understand ourselves, much less another species, right? It’s not all that Mysterious.

Missing Links

The Rhino Reputation for Insights and Mental Gymnastics is part of Nature’s endowment, and We are used to it. Other critters might preen, but We try to accept our Gifts with good grace. Humble, that’s Us.

There are some issues with having these Thoughts and Perceptions, especially because We have so many on any given day.

Rhinos don’t feel good about losing our Wits, but it does happen. We prefer to think of them as Misplaced- if only momentarily.
