Rhinos don’t actually live in houses, in the Wild. We may locate ourselves near a shrub, or in a gully, or in the field, but otherwise, no house.
Still, sometimes Circumstances force Us to stay where We are, for the moment. Sometimes the moments become a chore.
Rhinos are a tough crew, and although We may mutter, We do our best to play by the rules.
Rhinos are lucky in our Ancestry, 50 million years of it. That is because Rhino Ancestors do not relate to an Earthly Time Continuum. Our Ancestors can appreciate the Future as well as the Past.
That does not mean the Ancestors bother with details. The Ancestors are here to help Us to be true to our RhinoHeart. Guidance and Influence. Also encouragement.
The Intensity of our Rhino Mission does not change with something as minor as Time.
‘Your Inner Rhino’ has done a great deal of research on our Readers’ ideas of jolly holidays. So We Rhinos are making one up on our own. We call it “Take Your Canary to Work Day”.
This idea is most useful for Readers with canaries. But you could probably substitute a hamster or catfish.
Every special day must have had a beginning somewhere, and why not today?
Justice is a confusing business, no question. Rhinos seldom feel much confidence when assessing matters.
We leave Nature to address any issues. We are not invited to imagine We know right from wrong.
Rhinos are not known for our Capacity to recall things. Our minds are assaulted by a cavalcade of ideas and incidents, so it is all We can manage to recall our own names… if We had names.
We are obviously discussing smallish stuff, data that is best forgotten anyway. Complex analysis of Yesterday simply doesn’t pay off. When We have already forgotten half of it, what good is the rest?
Rhino Awareness is about Now. And there is almost invariably more than enough Now for Us all to confront.
Today is the first day of Spring, so We at Your Inner Rhino have been told. We have no reason to doubt it, though We couldn’t prove it.
It is a good day for practicing Skipping, unless it is raining.
Then it is a day for Mud and singing Tra La La La La!
Every now and again, a situation will make Us Rhinos feel lonely, or displaced. There is a sense of foreboding, disquiet about the future.
Rhinos do not actually play the harmonica, but there is something about the sound that Rhinos like. Good for pensive days.
Fortunately for Us, We can do a good imitation of a harmonica by gargling and keening at the same time. Or good enough for Us, at any rate.
Today is Saint Patrick’s Day. So Congratulations to the Irish, and all the almost-Irish, which covers everybody else. A happy sense of belonging is good for everyone.

Shown here is a tiny part of Sr. Gioachino Rossini’s “William Tell Overture”. It is an extensive piece of music, made of a great many notes, played by a great many musicians.
Sometimes Smelling seems to be reduced to a snort, a snappy reduction of Experience. But Real Delectation of Scent is a romance between the Nostril and thousands of component wafts, each open to interpretation, each worthy of singular appreciation, each expressing its own source. Each contributing Whiff is comparable to a note in a grand piece of music.
Art is in the air.
We Rhinos were surprised to learn that there is a word for the Rhino Communications Systems: Kinesics. It means an expressive system, using no Words whatever. Rhinos, and many other critters, are adept at Kinesics.
We are good at practicing it, and good at reading it from others. All it takes is a little attention to detail, and We all know what We all are thinking and doing… or about to do.
Some do not associate Aromatics with Kinesics, but Rhinos can’t imagine why not. Maybe it’s an Official Oversight somewhere along the line?
