October International

Yes, it is October, wherever you are. And where We Rhinos are too. We had considered giving you an October Update from Zambia, just to get you current, but gave it up.

Zambia is in central-south Africa, but in area it is as big as California, plus Michigan, Iowa, South Carolina and Rhode Island, more or less (Rhino Math is always dicey.) This Mathematical Info is meaningful, We assume.

The point is, Weather is capricious. This is Zambia’s hot , dry season, but that will shortly change. That’s just how Weather does things.

Sultan Suleyman Han bin Selim Han

September 1520 is when Suleiman the Magnificent (b.1494) took over as Emperor of the Ottoman Empire. Not only was he pretty magnificent, but so was his empire, which ranged all over the place.

He is remembered for a number of good qualities and constructive projects on behalf of the folks he ruled over. His was referred to as the Golden Age.

Now you know. YIR is on the job, giving credit where it is due.

Sporadically Speaking

Every so often, Rhinos find ourselves in Situations which seem to defy Common Sense. The train of Events seems to have left the station when We were not paying attention. Possibly We were mentally in the Dining Car and got distracted. Or were dozing.

Anyhow, Rhinos must realize that Unusual Things can happen, with or without our Active Participation.

Fortunately Rhinos are engineered to deal with Unpredictable Moments. Yet another Natural Gift.

En route

We Rhinos are sensitive to alterations in our paths, to developments. We go about our daily business, moving forward, taking things as they come.

But now and again, We come to a Moment, a surprise Goodbye to what has come before, and a doorway to what’s coming. Rhinos can’t predict these shifts; sometimes We don’t realize We’ve recalibrated until after the fact.

Oftentimes, We can’t go back, except in Memory. It’s a little scary, and a bit thrilling. Our Individual Progression.

Cataclysm

On September 27, 1290, there was an enormous Earthquake in the Yuan Empire of China. Whole villages entirely disappeared.

Nature may be relatively predictable on a daily basis, but there are occasional Events which cannot be foreseen or comprehended.

Rhinos, as well as Every Other Critter on the Earth must absorb these catastrophes at Nature’s hand. Sad but true.

Lima, Peru

There is an old expression, “Spilling the Beans”. It refers to divulging private or secret information. It is not a Rhino phrase.

That is because 1) Rhinos don’t have many secrets since all our shared info is by Scent, and 2) If Rhinos spilled any beans, We would eat them up, probably before they hit the ground..

Seems simple, once it’s been explained, right?
