Present and accounted for…

Many YIR Readers probably have accomplishments, one way and another, Acknowledgements of extraordinary Achievement. For our Readers, these are satisfying and exciting.

While We Rhinos applaud anything that pleases our Readers, We feel We should mention that a Rhino Accomplishment is directly related to our being here Today.

Living in the Wild is not a picnic. Rhinos make the best of a tricky bargain daily. Grim reflections set aside, We just say ‘Thank You’ and press forward.

Ah, but what about Oregon?

February 14 was the day Oregon joined the Union in 1859 (as well as Arizona in 1912.) However, YIR dealt with Oregon on March 8, 2019, for some reason associated with Oregonians and their unusual ways. Glad We cleared that up.

Yesterday was the finale of the US State Tributes, having attended to them, one and all. We blush at the inability to cover every aspect of each state, but feel good about what We got done.

We’ll recover soon.

Some Like It Hot

In 1912 Arizona became the 48th State in the Union, the last state until Hawaii and Alaska joined 47 years later. There are huge areas of desert with many impressive geologic sites.

Shown is a Native American Hopi clown, in a festival outfit. These clowns traditionally poke fun at the more conventional wisdom of their culture. In these celebrations, both the wise and the foolish have roles to play.

This is the sort of wisdom Rhinos can appreciate: respecting tradition, while recognizing the convolutions of perception.

Domestic Mysteries

There are situations in which the average Rhino is stumped. This is somewhat explained by inexperience, in, say, the laundry. We ourselves have nothing to wash but ourselves.

So when called in to delve into ‘the other sock’, We are unequal to the task.

Part of the problem is that Rhinos do not understand the need of socks in the first place. You can’t eat one.
