Heavens!

Some Readers have mentioned the Zodiac and the Constellations that crowd the skies.  There they see fishes and bulls and mythological figures, all made up of stars and twinkles.

Rhinos spend less time on the Constellations. We have one major short-cut in “seeing” Constellations; for Us, all the Constellations are Rhinos. Roughly, one for each of us, ever.

It’s hard to argue with Rhino Logic, right?

Medically Speaking…

Today, in 1867, the Netherlands Red Cross came into being, helping those in need and a good thing for One and All. Congratulations, says Your Inner Rhino. Also, Thank You.

A YIR news flash: the Band-Aid was invented in 1920 by Mr. Earle Dickson, an affiliate of Johnson & Johnson Corporation. Mr. Dickson’s wife was accident-prone, and the Band-Aid answered her frequent mini-emergencies.

Experiencing Experience

Here is today’s YIR Quiz! Is the plant on display 1) an Anyphosnic or 2) a Pnosimachy or 3) a Symphonica?

The answer is: Who cares? The flower is unto itself, a plant full of vitality, with charms, none of which require definition or description. Its Being is the issue, not how to capture it and confine its potential. We cannot own or limit it.

That’s how Rhinos see our own part in Nature’s scheme. As does the Ladybug.

The Dark Ages

YIR is not clear on how Arnulf III got the tag “Hapless”. Probably because he was unlucky. When his dad, Baldwin VI died in 1070, Arnulf became Earl of Flanders. He was acknowledged, but his uncle Robert, the Frisian, made a fuss, and Arnulf died in battle, in 1071.

It seems unkind to saddle the memory of a 16 year old youth with the sorry “title” Hapless, but History is not always kind.

Not only can History be unkind, but it’s often inaccurate. Rhinos know these things.

FMT

It’s Full Moon Time. It’s hard to quantify Glorious, at least for Us Rhinos, but We’d say Extravaganza-Glorious is about right.

There is a lot of Rhino Lore that deals with the Moon, and Rhinos love tales, myths and legends. Who doesn’t?

Perhaps the favorite R Concept is that all our Loved Ones go there to meet up, once they pass on. We all rejoice in knowing that so much of the affection We have ever felt is resident up there, glowing in the night sky. And in time, We will be there too.

Cataclysm

On July 15, 1888, Mount Bandai, in Fukushima Prefecture, exploded, the worst natural event in modern Japanese history.

Natural Disasters are impossible for any Rhino, or anyone else, to comprehend. The devastation is amazing and disorienting.

All We can assume is that Nature is following its course. Rhino permission plays no part in the equation.

R Achievement

Rhinos have often debated the meaning of Progress. Are We falling behind, or leaping ahead? Are We closer to Perfection, or perhaps falling short of the Ideal?

We have difficulty because We compare ourselves to a slithery idea, a memory, and try to see the state of things around Us as stable, which it isn’t.

Perhaps the concept of Progress is meaningless, an ideal which Rhinos cannot apply to our own brief lives.
