Hail, Oregonians!

This is National Oregon Day, which became a State in 1859. Look up its history; there’s a lot of it!

There are many Native American tribes in Oregon, which is geographically complex, having seashore and mountains and plains- you name it, they got it. So there’s a wide variety of locations for the folks of Oregon, plus the Wildlife. Lots of Wilderness, of which Oregonians can be proud.

Oregon is the Beaver State. Beavers are big rodents that eat trees, and Oregon is the State for that diet! Since there is apparently no Rhino State, We just horn in wherever possible and join the festivities.

Freezin’ Breezes

Over the millenia, Rhinos have dealt with many weather conditions. Today We all live in warm or warmer climates. We get on about our business all right.

But Rhinos have lived in Cold Times as well. Today We are reminded of the Wind Chill Factor, which makes a cold situation even colder. The stiffer the wind, the colder the sensation for the Rhino… or anybody else.

Nature does not apparently feel pressured to please Everyone.

Hasty Departures

Rhino History is filled with accounts of Rhinos responding to Nature’s many merry pranks. In the Wild, which is where Rhinos have always lived, Nature is capricious, so our job is to pay close attention to Nature’s signals, then salute, and then get out of the way.

The main lesson We have had from an extensive past is to keep an eye on the Exit Plan.

Get your coat, and grab your hat…

Freedom & Unity

Today, back in 1791, Vermont joined the Union. It’s called the Green Mountain State for the ridge of mountains running the length of the state.

Rhinos have lived for 50 million years, and We were in North America when the Ice Age glaciers came 2 million years ago, paring down the Green Mountains. The ice started to depart only 20 thousand years ago, leaving things the way they are today, mostly. Still impressive.

This is an unusual picture, being bi-Seasonal: Summer&Winter. YIR, awash with Pioneer Spirit.

Calculating Risk

We Rhinos are aware that there are a lot of Hazards available for Us, whether We know just what they are or not. Some are simple, some complex, but Life is full of surprises. That’s how Nature sets it up, and that’s all We need to know.

Rhinos don’t need the stress of hourly panic, but We need to watch our step.

Edgy, that’s what We get. Yeah, edgy. So We pay attention.

Considerations

Today is International Polar Bear Day (see picture). Polar Bears are big critters, and live in the far North where it is cold.

They have a problem, which is not uncommon in Nature; their home turf is changing. Change is Natural. In this case, their land of snow and ice is melting away.

However, not all climate change is Natural. This is a good day for pondering that distinction.

Hush

Words have their uses, but Silence has its uses too. Not that the World needs to be silent, but often We Rhinos need to be silent.

We find words limiting. However apt a word may be, it ignores so many aspects of a perception. If We don’t label an Experience, We actually have the Experience.

We prefer things that way, often.

Hickory Dickory

It’s pretty amazing how Nature programs Us Rhinos, not just for Today, but over our Lifetimes. All sorts of timing devices to inform Us and transform Us. Hour by hour, year by year. So many systems, all inside each given Rhino. Lots more than three, We can tell you.

Boggles the mind, really. Or it would if all these Tickers had anything to do with our Conscious Minds, which they don’t. They just regulate Us and get on with their business. In there flipping switches, usually at the Very Best Moment.

We are impressed, believe Us. Nature; it’s hard to beat!
