On the Second Day of…

12-26TruLove

Perhaps tardy, but still well-meaning, which must count for something. This sort of mix-up is not uncommon, which is why Rhinos tend to put the matter to rest, often before two turtle doves are ever mentioned. The collateral damage involved in a full shipment is too awful to compute.

We think of ourselves as Thoughtful. Win/Win.

Life Cycles

12-25 Cyclist

When a much-anticipated holiday like Christmas comes along, Rhinos sometimes imagine that a phase of Life is officially over. We can fall apart. Even though We know that isn’t the case, We secretly hold onto the concept, the Done Deal.

However, next day We get going to the next item on the agenda.

Hopefully with a high heart.

Charmed, I’m sure

12-22 WSolstice

Today is the Winter Solstice, which means more to the Reader than it does to Us Rhinos. That is because of your faith that the world is round. We have heard all about it, but remain unconvinced. (see 1-26-15)

Still, in the spirit of critter commonality, We salute your Demarcation. If you live someplace A, it’s the shortest, Someplace B, the longest day, or night. Whatever you believe on a daily basis, Solstices have charm as an idea, and Rhinos are suckers for charm, no doubt about it.

As you can well imagine.

The White Wall

12-21Foggish

Weather comes in many flavors, Fog being one of the most exotic. Where Rhinos live, it only comes in certain seasons; it’s unpredictable. We look forward to it in a spine-tingly way. It’s fun to be able to see next to nothing, and inch along, judging each step and humming upbeat tunes to bolster our spirits.

The tomfoolery is qualified by the need to stay sensible. We don’t want to get damaged, no sir, no sir. But We have the Rhino Universal Secret Weapon: our Noses! What We cannot see, We can still smell. Ha Haaaaaaaaaa!

Our lives are brimming with hilarity!

Beyond a doubt…

12-20 TroyHorse

Gift horses  have a checkered reputation for delivering unwelcome surprises. This phenomenon dovetails well with the natural Rhino inclination to ponder things that appear too good to be true. We have seldom regretted serious evaluation prior to involvement.

The loss of the opportunity is not the issue, so much as the repercussions of the move in haste.

If We be stodgy, so be it.

Toddling

12-16 TakeOff

RhinoTots do not toddle. When they are born, they are all ready to walk within a few hours. In the Wild, We cannot endure if We cannot get up and get out. That’s just the way it is. This fact accounts for the long pregnancy RhinoMoms experience; all that prep work takes place inside.

That is not to say that RhinoTots are particularly coordinated or graceful. Just so We’re clear on that. All those presentational skills are the result of time.

And Maternal Attention.
