Before any more of you Readers complain, We at YIR are aware that yesterday was Bubble Bath Day. You have so many excellent holidays, but this one slipped past Us. Sorry and there, there. No harm meant.
Rubber duckies, for one and all.
One relief that Seniority offers is the understanding that We Rhinos will never know it all. We have passed the point when willfulness passes for knowledge.
Then We take things as they come, offering suggestions if asked, but realizing that We could just as easily be wrong as right.
Makes Us feel younger every day.
Like it or not, all critters have Limitations. There are boundaries to Rhino capacities, assigned by Nature. We cannot fly, nor can We fit into a pumpkin shell. Nor climb trees successfully. Etc., etc.
What We can do is fill our Rhino turf with all the Excellence We can muster, leaving no smidge unappreciated. Without going beyond ourselves, We can investigate and extoll. Also, from inside our Rhino precincts, We can marvel at what other critters can do, and do do.
Rhinos can’t have it All. What a relief.
Hooray.
Tomorrow is your ‘Sleep Festival 2016’. YIR addresses the function today as We will be away tomorrow. Physically. Tiny vacation.
Rhinos can sleep anytime and virtually anywhere. We often challenge one another to do it, and We seldom fail to nap, at the very least. On the limb of a tree or on a Himalayan promontory, it makes no nevermind.
What makes it easy is that a doze does not impede our general regimen of activities, day or night. We just go along with ourselves, refocused on the Fragmentarily Perceptible. The inactivity can be very stimulating.
And relaxing. Even therapeutic.
In the Wild, Nature caters every meal. That may sound monotonous, but that is not the case.
Plant life is changing all the time, in cycles. Today Veggie A is healthy, two weeks from now is drooping, and in two months seems dead. The Moral: if you find it tasty, eat it now before it’s too late. (Eating now is always good policy.)
Happily, as Veggie A withers*, Veggie B is blooming, and merry mealtime alternatives present themselves. Thus Nature provides, not only for Us Rhinos, but for all critters out here doing our thing. Year round.
Talk about Seasons’ Greetings!
* (For those of you fretting about Veggie A, it will be back when the time is right. That’s how Nature handles these matters.)
Rhinos don’t allow other critters (or relatives) to determine the pulse and direction of our daily dance steps or state of mind. We each do our Rhino thing. With gusto. What sensible Rhino would let somebody else control the Happiness Button? Really.
Feeling Good is a Rhino responsibility, each of Us for each of Us every day.
Cha cha cha.
Now seems to have various meanings, like today, or recently, or this generation, etc. The Now We Rhinos are pondering today is the instantaneous Now usually brought about by pain or surprise. The kind that makes your eyes bug out. The kind of Now you register when a crocodile bites your foot or you bash your head into a rock in an unforeseen way.
Those are times when Now really calls attention to itself. In the N-OW sort of way.
