Today is Gilbert Proesch’ birthday. He is half of a living sculpture duo called Gilbert and George (Passmore). For roughly 50 years they have made artworks of themselves, and in various media, including photo collage. Their art is full of message, and full of no message.
Good, is what We Rhinos say.
Rhinos have long understood that sneezing is beneficial. It takes all the old and dreary brain cells, and snorts them out with a bang. This makes room for snappy new brain cells to get on with making Us even better.
Nature has lots of excellent systems, for sure.
This is Agatha Christie’s birthday, back in 1890. Her specialty was writing detective fiction, featuring improbable puzzle plots and ingenious sleuths.
In the Wild there is not much for a Rhino to detect. Scent informs all situations, which is seldom open to interpretation.
Rhinos do like the tip-toe element of Whodunits, even though they are about the Badly Behaved.
There are few things more irritating than anybody saying ‘they know’, when clearly they don’t.
Rhinos all come with the understanding that Ignorance is our natural state. Why fuss about it?
It’s a great relief to simply admit We mostly know nothing. Trust Us.
Today is National Fortune Cookie Day. It happens every year, rain or shine.
What puzzles Us Rhinos is: how does a cookie know so much? Inside is a secret message, tailored to the recipient. Insightful, but also mysterious. For Rhinos, the mystery is doubly secret, because We can’t read.

Rhinos sometimes get the idea that howling at the Weather has benefits. As far as We know, the only effect of the hubbub is the satisfaction of yelling.
Weather comes with ideas of its own, which We Rhinos can only witness.
There is usually plenty to see. Daily.
King Lear is about a cranky king who divides his realm among his three daughters. Unfortunately, none of them is grateful enough to please Lear. He compares them unfavorably to snakes with sharp teeth before Act One is over. (see 9/1/16) Then things go downhill.
Expectations can lead to Catastrophe. Time has taught all Rhinos that little lesson. King Lear learns it, but too late for a happy ending.
Education can be expensive.
Rules and Regulations and Statutes and Policies. All Important and Crucial. Many and many more of these codes and dictates. Some agree with one another, others not. These Rules come in clusters from two to a zillion and two.
Since Rhinos don’t count beyond 3 with any assurance, most Rules must be overlooked. Also, We are seldom confident about which set of Rules to apply today. What happens when We get it wrong… or right? Rules seem deliberately perplexing.
Rhinos have few Rules of our own. So far, so good.
