Aging has its drawbacks, as anybody who has tried it can tell you. The gears get rusty. The rhythm section slows down.
However, it’s good to recall that many Rhinos never get a chance to try it out.
Rhinos do not fly in the usual way, at least Not Yet.
It could be argued that Rhinos are not meant to fly ever, simply because We have not done it to date, that We know of. But there’s the hitch, right? Maybe We have flown all over the place when We weren’t paying attention, long ago. Our RAncestors may have suppressed that part to keep Us cheerful today.
So our hopes are high! Optimism is a Rhino Duty, ask anybody.
Rhinos sometimes get a reputation for being Aloof, with connotations of Snobbery. Lest We be misunderstood, We hasten to point out : We just have our minds on other things.
Rhino Levels of Concentration are legendary, at least amongst ourselves. When preoccupied, We go into a trance state where We are inaccessible. We do not snub through intention; We are unavoidably detained somewhere… else.
Eventually We loop back to the planet, at which time We are glad to be sociable.
It must be faced: Goldilocks misspent part of her youth in criminal activities. However, there is more to the discussion.
Goldilocks was developing a flair for Comparative Analysis, a discernment which every young critter must acquire. By careful testing, Goldilocks establishes a pecking order for herself; This is more advantageous than That. So she is both the young thug and an upcoming authority. Folks have potential in many directions.
Philosophy is both multi-faceted and confusing. Every Rhino knows that much.
Goldilocks is a lucky girl. When the Three Bears discovered she had gobbled up their breakfast, they might have gobbled her up instead. But Folk Tales are peculiarly kind with the young in ways that Nature seldom is in the Wild.
What We Rhinos also notice in this story is the emphasis on Goldilocks’ contentment; things must comply with her desires to make the grade. Entitlement apparently has to start somewhere… “Just Right” indeed!
In the Wild, ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ is told from quite a different angle, you may believe.
The Full Moon is tonight. Rhinos have always assumed that the Moon is full of affectionate thoughts which shower down on Earth. By night. The Sun works the day shift.
Rhinos welcome sweet sentiments from each and every source. Not just today, but hourly.
The whole business is awash in poetry, and makes Us merry.
It may be that not every moment of one’s life seems worth remembering, but each and every moment is what makes up our History. Drop one moment, and the whole business comes crashing down. That’s how Time does things, and it’s no good arguing about it.
Each Rhino’s life is a series of moments. Some are swell, others a bore, but each is essential.
Until We run out of moments.
October 2 is Marie Antoinette’s birthday, 1755. She was a Fashionista, if ever there was one. Unlike Us Rhinos, she didn’t just dream this stuff up; she actually wore it around the house. That house was a palace or two, she being Queen of France.
She was an enthusiast about Cake, and recommended it whenever she was asked.
Ms. Juliette Gordon Low (b. Oct.31, 1860) founded what was to be the Girl Scouts, starting in 1912. Her goal was to foster independence, physical health, and unity and friendship among young women. Your Inner Rhino applauds her aims and efforts.
Young Rhino gals are always in troops of one, with Mom as troop leader. The goals of this training are remarkably similar to Ms. Low’s.
Need We point out that ‘Inner Rhino’ is not a modern invention?
