The R System

The Rhino approach to Time is both more and less specific than our Readers’. We don’t care much about time where it affects our schedule or commitments; We don’t have many.

What We do pay special care to is all the information We get from the Earth itself, under our feet, and from plants and other critters in our midst. Plants are very sensitive to times of day and weather. We just get updates from them. And Naturally, every phase of the day, or night, comes with its characteristic scents and lighting effects. Totally Informative.

We know just what Time it is; Trust Us on that.

Hickory Dickory

It’s pretty amazing how Nature programs Us Rhinos, not just for Today, but over our Lifetimes. All sorts of timing devices to inform Us and transform Us. Hour by hour, year by year. So many systems, all inside each given Rhino. Lots more than three, We can tell you.

Boggles the mind, really. Or it would if all these Tickers had anything to do with our Conscious Minds, which they don’t. They just regulate Us and get on with their business. In there flipping switches, usually at the Very Best Moment.

We are impressed, believe Us. Nature; it’s hard to beat!

Ego Trip

We can only speak to our Rhino Situation, though We suspect We are not alone in our focus on ourselves. Each Rhino has a modest Domain in which We rule unquestioned. This space is not Real Estate, but a cranial space allotted for Individual Appreciation.

Happily, this place is Isolated, free from Criticism or Complaint, established by tossing Barriers of Will Power and Egocentricity.

We find it best to limit our visits, so We don’t get too Eccentric. The party is always “Come as you are”.

Heart to Heart

From Us, here at ‘Your Inner Rhino’,                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Oh, Won’t you be our Valentine-o?

Sweets to the Sweet

Today We celebrate Chocolate Cake Day, tipping our hats to Ms. Eliza Leslie. Her cookery book (1847) is the first in the USA to describe making a Chocolate Cake. It was different than today’s, but it was a genuine article, nonetheless.

The history of Chocolate is interesting. Originally Chocolate was mainly a beverage, but over time it was introduced into foods, one way and another.

Rhinos like Chocolate Cake, as do most sensible critters. Huzzah!

Mushroom Whisperers

Rhinos are fond of Mushrooms, but let’s face it: Mushrooms have their little ways.

Regarding poisonosity, Rhinos have a little-known gift; We can hear when a plant is not meant for Us. An unusual talent, to say the least. Just a “pssssst” from the Fungus, and We move along.

Yet another example of how Nature looks out for Us in the Wild, for which We are plenty grateful.
