Rhinos enjoy all the seasons We get, wherever We are. No two locales are exactly the same, which may be quirky, but it’s so.
What We particularly like is the toastiness of Summer. We have long believed that hot weather makes Us grow, which is a Prime Rhino Activity. This belief may or may not mean much, but that’s true of most things.
We are Sun Bunnies. For better or for worse.
RTots are a notoriously impatient crowd. Rhino Moms must often field questions about when a forbidden activity will be allowed, like jumping off a cliff or picnicking with lions.
The standard reply, a classic in its own right, is: “When you can lay an egg.”
So far, this snappy response has gone unchallenged. For 50 million years.
When Rhinos hit adolescence, We usually strike off on our own to deal with the Wild. That’s the System We work with.
Many of Us are solitary. Because that is the case, We must attend to our business, each for themselves.
When We think ‘Do-It-Yourself’ projects, We mean it. Whatever We do.
From time to time a Rhino will receive a Surprise. No preparation, no way of knowing just what it is? Just, here We go.
What is surprising about these Surprises is how often whatever it is, wherever it came from, or whoever sent it, that Surprise thing will come in Handy.
And often, in the Immediate Future. Amazing.
Breathing is very common in the Wild, as you might imagine. Happily, a Reader* has written in to YIR, asking about it.
Rhinos are not only accomplished at Breathing, but We need lots of Air, due to perpetual Ruminations and Scentographic Analysis. Our systems need ventilation. Air is good for that.
Rhinos don’t take Air for granted, that’s for sure. Very useful, Air. Calming, actually.

No matter how many bits of information or how extensive the catalogs any Rhino keeps, Answers often seem inaccessible.
What is often helpful is recalling the Answer before We justify it. The Answer is there already; Inside, where it counts. We just have to acknowledge it.
Your Inner Rhino is not infallible, but pretty close.
Rhinos are not only olfactoring fiends, all ears, on our toes, and vigilant; We are Vegetarians.
Also, We can read between the lines, which comes in mighty handy. Which is good, since We cannot read the lines themselves.
A question occasionally arises about how much one critter’s Life is worth versus another critter’s. Is a Rhino’s life more meaningful than a gnat’s? A gorilla’s more meaningful than a grasshopper’s? Or a rutabaga’s?
It is not possible to tell, because the value of any life is determined by Nature. Each Being has a purpose, but We don’t get to know it. We can only assume that each and every one is contributing to a Great Answer.
This consideration helps to keep Rhinos humble. Sort of.
It’s true that no Rhino has yet been asked to play the Sheng in the Sumatran Philharmonic. Are We discouraged? No.
Not every Sheng player can be the best in the bunch, or even much more lowly in the bunch. That does not mean Rhino Shengists should despair.
It only means that more Practice may be required. Or, a lot more luck.
Though Consistency may appeal to some critters, it is not a quality Rhinos find relevant to our sense of wellbeing.
Rhinos are utterly at one with ourselves, but that oneness should not be constrained. Rhinos need room for Developments.
Lots and lots of Developments.
