Due to our numerical limitations, Rhinos have little use for Pi as a mathematical concept.
Rhinos do have a chokehold on the concept of Pie, so that will have to do.
We do want to help you Readers celebrate Pi Day (3.14), so let Us all seize our forks!
Rhinos are vigorous critters. We have a lot to do and We get on with it, whatever it may be. Alert? Think Rhino.
But that only accounts for one Level of Awareness. On other levels, We Philosophize, Envision, and Opine. Likewise, We attend to our frame of mind, tweaking it where necessary, enjoying it otherwise.
Pampering is one of those projects which works best for Us when We attend to ourselves. A moment or two of psychogical “Me Time” can oil our gears nicely.
This is National Oregon Day, which became a State in 1859. Look up its history; there’s a lot of it!
There are many Native American tribes in Oregon, which is geographically complex, having seashore and mountains and plains- you name it, they got it. So there’s a wide variety of locations for the folks of Oregon, plus the Wildlife. Lots of Wilderness, of which Oregonians can be proud.
Oregon is the Beaver State. Beavers are big rodents that eat trees, and Oregon is the State for that diet! Since there is apparently no Rhino State, We just horn in wherever possible and join the festivities.
Today We salute Ohio’s 1803 admission as one of the United States of America. We assume this recognition was an achievement of some sort for somebody.
What Rhinos are confused about is: what was Ohio before it got recognized? We don’t see how it changed based on an announcement.
However, We Rhinos don’t pretend to understand every little thing.
Rhinos have a lot to reckon with, even on a daily basis. Most of the time We do pretty well, Obviously… or We wouldn’t be here, right?
We don’t so much need to be prepared, We just need to be flexible and ingenious.
No matter how “put together” We are, things still pop up.
We can only speak to our Rhino Situation, though We suspect We are not alone in our focus on ourselves. Each Rhino has a modest Domain in which We rule unquestioned. This space is not Real Estate, but a cranial space allotted for Individual Appreciation.
Happily, this place is Isolated, free from Criticism or Complaint, established by tossing Barriers of Will Power and Egocentricity.
We find it best to limit our visits, so We don’t get too Eccentric. The party is always “Come as you are”.
At different times in Rhino History the debate about Understanding has gotten pretty intense. Do Rhinos understand? Can Rhinos Understand? How would-could-should We establish a meaningful answer to the Question? Many Theories and precious few Answers.
What We Rhinos do know is that the process of figuring it out is exhausting, or perhaps stimulating, if you don’t care about the Answer. Or lose your temper.
In the interests of Sanity, We try to stay calm, and decide to Understand more Tomorrow, or at the very least, Soon.
Since Rhinos don’t own stuff, the only rewards We can offer another critter, Rhino or not, are Consideration and Encouragement.
“They got their just deserts” usually means some appropriate punishment, though sometimes it means reward. So, We assume We need to Earn decent treatment? Our goal is to gratify somebody else? Not Rhino, No thank you, neither today or tomorrow. No. As in, No. Like Never, or even more seldom.
Rhinos prefer to dole out Kindness and Respect as the normal social transaction, day to day, Everyone to Every Other One. Everybody wins.
Some Readers believe that Rhinos are stately and serene, immersed in elegant, intricate thought patterns, dissecting Reality. Such Readers are insightful.
But Rambunctiousness is an alternative part of every Rhino’s repertoire of moods and capacities.
We like to think that We Rambunct with the best of ’em.
We Rhinos have seen a lot of creative work over the millenia. That said, We want to recommend the work of Anarchitect Richard Greaves to our Readers’ attention. Since you probably can’t go see it, you can Google it.
We advise you to sit down before going over the images of his work, or you’ll be parked on your backside in no time flat. If Art is the expression of the Individual, here, in this man’s efforts, is what that means.
Eccentric, but so what? A privilege to see it, in whatever form.
