Combination Platter

Today all Rhinos celebrate, once again, the 1856 birthday of L. Frank Baum. What a world he created, the first truly USA fairy tale, The Wizard of Oz! Very exciting, no matter when he comes to mind.

Also, today is National Chocolate Chip Day, which may demand rescheduling for you. It will for Us.

Find a yellow brick road, and skip down it, cookies in your backpack!

to the Power of 3

Rhinos cannot reliably count beyond 3. We have tried, and a special few have managed 4. However, when asked for a report on 4’s appeal, the gifted Rhinos report it means little more than 3, so why bother?

All Rhino mathematics come out with the same answer (3). Or “a lot”, that’s the other answer.

But making a mess with chalk is always a good time. At least that is the RhinoPosition on that topic.

The Apple of my Eye

Mother’s Day was begun by Ms. Anna Jarvis (b.1864). Her intention was to honor the influence of Mothers both in the home and the nation. The first Mother’s Day was celebrated in 1908.
Hard to believe Ms. Jarvis was not actually a Rhino, but We applaud her work just the same. Credit where credit is due.
Fittingly, today is also National Apple Pie Day.

Where are the snows of yesteryear?

Rhinos are endowed with lots and lots of Marbles. This is a good thing, because We lose our Marbles all the time. Luckily, We get lots of spares as replacement parts.

We do wonder where our lost Marbles get off to. There are so many of them, and so many Rhinos have lost them, there should be a Marble coating on the planet of considerable depth. Why aren’t We wading through them on a daily basis?

Maybe they evaporate?

Gustoed

A Perilous Situation characterizes any Rhino’s day, that being the Surprise Attack of a Gusto- an unpredictable energy surge. The Rhino is pressing forward with the day’s agenda, and all of a sudden, Wham! A Mighty Must snatches the Rhino’s wits and it’s off to the races.

Sometimes it turns out to be a lot of Fun.

(Nobody seems to know where these Gustos hide out when off duty. So don’t ask Us.)

Considerating

Rhinos are generally Soloists. We are friendly with other Rhinos, but our social attachments are loose, to say the least.

Bees, on the other hand, are Sociable, capital S, Sociable. They call it Teamwork, and seem delighted with their approach.

Rhinos are a bit too willful and sporadic for that way of doing things. Or perhaps We are just too big.
