Raspberries

5-2 Herbs 2039

June 10 is National Herb & Spice Day, which We Rhinos welcome. We are always on the lookout for plant developments, and Nature provides plenty to hold our attention.

Herbs and spices come into play in many areas of interest, being ornamental, aromatic, tasty, and medicinal.

This year, the Herbalisti have decided to put a spotlight onto Brambles, which produce delicious berries. Rhinos like berries. Ask any of Us.

SOS

5-1 UhOh 2039

Today is May Day, a seasonal festival, but oddly enough, it is also Save the Rhino Day. Thus it is May Day, and also a ‘Mayday’ call for assistance.

Rhinos, through no known fault of our own, face both poaching and loss of habitable turf in the Wild. The folk responsible will need to curtail their efforts, or the jig will be up for Us Rhinos.

If you can help Us, look up a Rhino group, and chip in where you can. Thank you.

Light Feet and Rhythm

Today is International Dance Day, celebrating Cultural Sharing and Appreciation, which sounds like a good thing.

We Rhinos had assumed it meant the space between two or more Nations. We have to report that dancing down those fine lines seems impracticable. You’re in Nation A or Nation B, almost anywhere you go. No in-betweens.

Since Rhinos don’t understand these border distinctions, We just dance around, anywhere. And a good time is had by all. When asked to go elsewhere, We do, with cha-cha feet.

Fork Time

Today is National Blueberry Pie Day, officially. We Rhinos are often surprised with holidays; We thought Every day was a blueberry pie day. Why willingly limit the festivities?

If Rhinos had forks, We would have special big ones, so We could clean up our plates quickly.

That way Rhinos would be ready if there’s more pie nearby.

Tremors

Today is the birthday of Mr. Charles F. Richter (1900) who, with Mr. Beno Gutenberg, invented and developed Seismology and a scale for gauging Earthquakes during the 1930s.

A grand effort and much to be grateful for! They studied California, where there is a lot of Earthquaking. Later on, they expanded their work, sharing with scientists around the world.

We Rhinos think the Earth can use all the study it can get. With Nature, the point is about getting out of the way… in time, when possible.

Scrub-a-dub-dub

It’s William Shakespeare’s birthday so YIR is reposting a dramatic picture from August 2016, commemorating washed hands just after things got out of hand. It is part of a tongue-in-cheek series on Shakespeare’s plays.

Shown is Mrs. Macbeth, a-washing away her criminal collusion in dastardly doings. In Scotland, no less.
