Hooray for Us, one and all.
And thank you for your Attention, dear Readers.
When We get up each morning, Rhinos wonder if this will be the Best Day of our Lives. It could happen, right? This might be it, the Day Beyond Improvement.
But there is a rub… what if yesterday was pretty swell? or tomorrow has a lot of promise? We often can’t recall yesterday well enough to make a worthy comparison. And We don’t want to rain on tomorrow’s parade.
Rhinos can only assume this moment is Spectacular, and figure We are here to revel in it.
Tomorrow, August 15, is National Lemon Meringue Pie Day. Some celebrate it with spoons, others employ forks, and some just meld with the pie itself, no holds barred.
This way, you can get to your source for LMP early in the day, before others flood the market. We would suggest experimentation in the kitchen, but Rhinos don’t cook much.
Rhinos like sweets in moderation. We also like them in overwhelming abundance.
Today ‘Your Inner Rhino’ celebrates Mr. Li Ching-Yuen, who according to Chinese documentation, lived to be 197 years old, or 256 years old (depending on the document, apparently. ) Li had an active and extensive life, primarily as an herbalist.
At age 130 Li met a hermit who gave him keys to a long life, all to do with meditation, breathing, diet, and exercise. Also, Li had 24 wives over his lifespan. He died in 1933.
Rhinos are unconcerned with these statistics, because We do not really know what they mean. Rhinos all live full lives. That’s the point, right?
When a species is as old as the Rhino Family, you can believe We are flexible. We recall the values of the Olde or Traditional, and seek Revelation in the New and Different.
These adjustments are best achieved with a lot of Deep Breathing and Time. Time helps.
That’s today’s Rhino Tip. Take it or leave it.
Today We acknowledges New York becoming the 11th State in 1788. Much History and a lot of Vitality, plus a certain magnetic Charm for clever folk; Rhinos have always fit right in.
Washington Irving’s ‘Rip Van Winkle’, an 1819 folktale of a loafer sleeping through the Revolution, salutes the Old Men of the Mountains, the ghostly crew of Henry Hudson, long gone. They lure Rip to play nine pins in the forest and then slip him a mickey. Hence, the nap.
New York is so chock full of Event that picking a focus for celebration was just too exhausting for our Staff. Plus We like olde Dutch outfits.
