Knock, knock, who’s where?

A feature of Rhino Awareness is the realization that We are eternally in between- not here, nor there, even if it’s only rolling over in bed. We were this way, and We are almost that way, but no matter what, another way is on its way anyway.

So even when We are coming, We are also leaving our prior locale or position or condition.

So Progression is also Retrogression or something. Digression perhaps?

Feisty Gals

Lucy Maud Montgomery (b.1874) was a successful Canadian author. She wrote in many forms, but Anne of Green Gables is her best known series today.

Anne is a spunky character, allowing no nonsense or disrespect, despite her romantic (and a bit prim) core. An interesting combination of traits, all in one credible package.

Very Rhino, that Anne. No baloney, thank you very much.

Tut tut

Yes, it was today in 1922 that King Tutankhamun’s tomb was located and examined for the first time. (The first first time doesn’t count.)

Rhinos are exceptional guides for these endeavors, but We aren’t invited as often as you’d think. On the other hand, that may explain why more exciting things don’t get found.

Stands to reason, right?

Star Light, Star Bright…

Mr. Edmond Halley was Astronomer Royal in England, born today in 1656. There is a comet named after him, because he figured out that it would show up every 75 (or maybe 76) years. Mr. Halley was 27 when the comet flew by, its solo appearance in his lifetime.

Rhinos are not gifted at counting. Our system is to keep looking up, in case it is 75 (or maybe 76) years now. Time is tricky stuff, and you never know. Well, We Rhinos certainly don’t.

He wore a wig. Very chic.

On another note…

Albert Sax was born on November 6, 1814, so We sing happy Birthday to him, the inventor of the Saxophone. He invented (and patented) all the different ones, all at once in 1846, so he must have been very clever.

Rhinos like saxophones, with their peculiar blend of woodwind and brass sounds, ranging from mellow to raucous. Perhaps it is the inherent Jazziness of Rhinodom that finds reflection in the sax’ voice.

Hot stuff. Both Rhinodom and the Saxophone.

Casting Off

Each Rhino is navigating the Great Questions of Life, minute by minute. Many decisions, each with its own unforeseeable consequences.

Some timid critters might quake in the face of so many options. Even We take pause and consider what looks good, or at least looks better. What is for sure is that We do not Know what’s ahead, no matter what We choose.

We chug onward; Rhinos are made for Adventure. Anchors Aweigh.
