The Drift of Public Opinion
Clearly our editorial concern is the YIR Readership, that mighty conglomerate of Excellent and Insightful Folk.
Somedays We wonder if anybody will “get it”, and We get encouraging responses; conversely, We think We’re brilliant, and Readers are polite (always a dangerous and unusual signal among our Readers). Unfortunately, We can never be sure what or how We’re doing.
We like to think of ourselves as responsive, but there are so many breezes, We mostly spend our time looking confused. Ah well. Practice makes perfect.
Hypnoceros
Hypnotism is an Ancient Art; Rhinos are adept at it, and have been for about 3 zillion years (however long that is). We do not practice it on others, but are good at going into a Subliminal State at the drop of a leaf. All on our own.
We don’t actually dress up for these occasions, owning nothing to put on. But Rhinos certainly understand Showmanship, so We take these opportunities to impress ourselves.
RhinoMind is Elastic; We can check in, or check out at will.
Scent-imentally Speaking
Where to begin? Where to conclude? The fact is that Rhinolfactory Topics are all-encompassing; they sweep Us away with their Mystique.
When We sniff, We are put entirely at the disposal of the Scent on hand. We become Scent Slaves. We whelm with Odor, transported to realms We cannot describe, even to ourselves.
Rhinos are lucky that way.
Internal Sloshings
Rhinos are willing to believe that the moon has influence on the Tides, shoving them around at will. That said, just what is the Moon up to inside Us, where We can’t see?
As with so many questions, this one may trickle on for some time before We get an answer worth knowing about.
Which presumes that knowing about something means it’s under Rhino Control. Nonsense, in many flavors, with or without nuts.
One of a Kind Treasure Maps
We Rhinos are pretty certain that within each of Us, there is access to a unique place We might refer to as ‘Never Never Before Land’. It’s an expression of the cumulative Adventure each of Us enjoys as a Rhino. It is the singular perfect setting for the perfect singular Us.
We find the idea comforting, not to mention invigorating.
Rhino Lullaby
When We sleep, Rhinos dream. However, it has become clear to Us that there is a difference between our dreams and those of the Readership.
When Rhinos dream, the primary communication is via Scent, not vision. Seldom do Rhinos wake with an image. We wake with Scent-sations, some of which come by nose, but others also come through our ears, our mouths, and the bottoms of our feet.
There seems to be plenty of room for both ways of dreaming, and after all, what choice does anyone have about it?

The Chicken and the Egg
Rhinos sometimes wonder if Imagination is the big mover and shaker of our awareness. Perhaps We do not create or employ our Imaginations; perhaps our Imaginations create and define Us.
There is a mind-meld going on there somehow, but how it works is baffling. When Your Inner Rhino figures it out, We’ll let you know right away.
Honest.
At the Seaside
Rhinos spend almost no time ever in the open water. Still, We know it’s there, sloshing around. We are observant.
So here is our Question: where does all the water go when the Tide goes out? And where are they keeping it until the Tide comes in again?
Nature sure has a lot of Mysteries up its sleeve. Maybe the Answer is on a need-to-know basis.
If I’ve told you Once…
For some reason, Rhinos seldom respond well to Scolding. It may be part of the Maturation Process, but it is not welcomed after the 2 thousandth (?) or 2 billionth (?) time, if ever. Fortunately, We cannot count, for which all young Rhinos are grateful.
Sometimes Scolding brings out the less attractive side of Rhino temperament. It’s true.
