Today in 1877 the country of Romania achieved Independence from the Ottoman Empire. A happy day for them.
Romania is where some of Bram Stoker’s DRACULA (1897) is set, up in the Carpathian Mountains. Very unpleasant activities there, you may believe.
What Rhinos wanted to make sure our Readership understands is, not everyone in Romania is a Vampire. We have visited and had no problems along those lines whatsoever. Though We do keep our eyes peeled.
Rhinos have lots of Imagination, so you might think that with a certified, genuine Magic Lamp, We could come up with some remarkable wishes.
But We have to say, mostly even when Rhinos get what We asked for, the thrill of satisfaction is often missing. The thing is what We wanted, but it does not scratch the itch We felt it would.
Funny about that.
Rhinos progress from one minute to the next, Shifting in multiple ways from one level of consciousness to another. For each step, there are Developments, some exhilarating, some demoralizing, but all part of a minute-to-minute tapestry which is Us.
This question is all about the Inner Rhino. On the outside, We may look the same. But inside, We are awash with ever-enhanced Awarenesses.
Some other Critters might find this all disorienting, but not We. For Us, being only semi-Cohesive, this is Normalcy.
Rhinos all enjoy Musical Chairs, but Rhinos are Big and the shoving and scrambling and general hubbub often lead to injury, as opposed to Victory. Changes the tone of a birthday party.
In the Wild, We are aware of the spread of populations. We suppose they must go somewhere, and it is becoming more usual that We Rhinos are resident in those somewheres. We try to make room, but…?
Musical Chairs is a game designed to instruct Us all about Diminishing Resources.
We assume it is a part of our Natural Package, but Rhinos are not particularly good at accepting Imposed Limitations. We are fairly receptive with our Mothers, up to a point, but after that… well, not so much so.
This resistance to conformity may account for a great many developments in a Rhino’s Life.
But then, maybe not.
In many Moments of Life, Willpower comes into play. A Rhino wants This, but is in fact equipped for That.
Frustratingly, however, the problem may not yield to Intention.
Rhinos don’t like to pout, but it doesn’t seem quite fair.
Today is Mr. John Muir’s birthday, 1838. He was an advocate for Environmental Issues, and the idea of preserving the Wilderness.
He was the founding spirit for the Sierra Club, 1892. The group is still going strong today.
All Critters in the Wild owe him thanks, and gladly offer them.
Every Rhino has been told, often, to Behave Yourself. We understand the concept; here is an uncompromising Standard of Conduct, and We’d like you to measure up to it. Now.
Perhaps with time and luck, this sort of adjustment is possible, but We find that the challenge is Behaving our many Selves. No single Self is ever all We must confront. One self might be controlled, but with clusters, it’s like a jamboree inside Us.
At least, that is how it is for Rhinos, which is what We are here to report on.
‘Your Inner Rhino’ salutes both National North Dakota Day, and National North Dakota Day, with a Full Moon. That coincidence is a rarity, and We point it out.
North Dakota produces a mega-bunch of Grain, and all Rhinos feel warmly about that.
Grass is good for you. So is moonlight.
Cancelled Plans are part of the great scheme of things. Insurmountable Circumstances intervene, and We must press on.
But Rhinos are not uniformly Gracious in the face of Postponements. We will have the occasion, but just not Now.
We can only tap our toes and drum our digits. And await Clarification. Nuts.
