Today We are saluting Fernando Botero. He comes from Colombia, which is in South America. His famous artworks concern themselves with figures of bulk, ultra 3-D, sensuous.
A Rhino kind of guy. Hence the homage, heartfelt if pale-by-comparison, above.

The Rhino problem is: it is easy enough to get into a Frenzy, but it is hard to gracefully get oneself out of one.
Rhinos are not specific about our own Birthdays. Dates may make attractive charts, but they don’t make sense to everybody. Rhinos are numerically illiterate.
However, We are party animals, so We each designate a few days a week for celebration. Even if We miss the exact day, We probably get within a few days, one direction or another. Also, a good time is always a good time, not to be sniffed at.
Happy Birthday to You. With icing and many kisses. And one to grow on.
Each of Us Rhinos has a bunch of Alter Egos, each one eccentric, all living in a jumble, each deciding when to step up and make itself known. How many?, you might ask. Well, it’s a bunch more than 3, so that’s the non-counting critter’s count.
Some of these Alter Egos are universal, standard issue for every Rhino. Others are spontaneous expressions of selfhood, individual and unique. We prefer to think of the percolating chaos inside Us as a sign of vitality.
Integration of character is not a Rhino strong point. Seems like a lot of effort for something that’s about to shift anyway.
Despite our upbeat Rhino Demeanor, Rhinos still have luggage We drag around. Sometimes We are more aware of it than others. But regrets and hurts and fears and disappointments and confusions still weigh on Us, given the opportunity.
Rhinos are designed to endure, as well as to skip.
C’est la vie.
We Rhinos are somewhat willful. We know. There is some sort of goldarn internal switch that makes Us ignore even the Very Best Advice.
And where does that VB Advice come from?, you might ask. Right! Right inside our own brains, or wherever. It’s not like We don’t know better, it’s just that We don’t listen to our own thinkings. Deplorable, that’s what it is.
Perhaps We’ll evolve. Hmmm?
Despite the teacher’s dedication, the fact is that each youngster has a different capacity for Education. Those capacities shift with time and circumstances and temperament, but no two are alike.
When delivering Education, the wise teacher leaves a little room at the top, so ideas can happily slosh around. That way ideas mix with experience, each influencing the other. Which is good.

The Past is always lurking around, being Helpful. 50 million years of accumulated RhinoWisdom must have something to recommend it, right? Certainly, but…
But the Past can also be stultifying, a strangulation of RhinoDynamics. Tradition should have its due, but that Excelsior Spirit is built into Us Rhinos.
When We feel the Tarantella, We get the tambourine, dammit!
Rhinos have always been aware of the Butterfly Theory, at least in theory. One thing impacts everything else, whether it knows it or not. Or cares.
That is why Rhinos can make a Great Quandary out of almost anything besides eating. Once We let Incertitude out of the bag, where are We? We are pondering matters into a lather, and feeling queasy, that’s where.
The moral of all that is the upshot of that is the bottom line of that is the nitty gritty of that is the gist of that is…

First Impressions are very important to Us Rhinos, and always have been, though for Rhinos those First Impressions are achieved by nostril, not eyeball. Still, the general idea applies. How do new acquaintances respond to the Rhino in question?
No critter wants to be considered sub-standard. That is why Rhinos always galvanize the Public; We employ that extra little something.
