Over there

4-29On the road again

Wanderlust seems to come upon Us in waves. A clutch of Rhinos is all-well-and-good, and next thing you know, We are packing ourselves up, and heading off to New Frontiers. Whole wings of the family just sashay off together.

Scent dictates to Us; Nature sends a seductive breeze our way, and We toddle towards it. It’s how We got to North America and were so successful there. And when it was time to go back, We just reversed things. 25 Million years in a place may look like a commitment, but everything has closure, sooner or later.

Half of the good times of Pathfinding is not knowing where We are going, or what We will do when We get there. It’s called Adventure.

Agitationalities

4-26RichterScale

Today Rhinodom salutes Charles Richter, who somehow created a scale for weighing Earthquakes. We don’t pretend to understand it, but many Readers think highly of it, so We do too.

Earthquakes happen and always have, whenever they like. Not much warning and then a bunch of activity. It helps to be light on our feet, ready to hop one way or another.

Falling rocks are the main hazard, so smart Rhinos step away from hillsides till things quiet down. Duh.

Sincerely yours

Rhinos are fans of Valentine’s Day, but We are never sure exactly when it occurs. So We just recall it, generally. A mental stance, as it were.

In case you do not practice this system, dear Reader, We just felt We should send a little reminder that We hold you in a tender place in our hearts, where We can cuddle and appreciate you all the time.

Rhinos are affectionate, by Nature.

Deliberations

4-23Opinions
As you may have suspected, Rhinos arrive at new and astounding Conclusions more often than not, or oftener. What would be the point of all Rhinoid Cerebral Analysis if nothing got resolved? We wonder, yes We do.

But Asking Questions is lurking at the core of the discussion. How could We debate matters if We had no suspicion that the Alternative Ideas might have merit? And if so, how much?

Doubt makes Opinions doubtful, beyond a doubt. What an exasperating system!

Recycling

4-22 food chain

In the Wild, We have no issues with recycling. Everything and everybody gets recycled all the time. Rhinos eat vegetation, and in turn make poop, which in turn nourishes the landscape.

When any of Us feels too limp to forage for food, a committee of critters arrives and starts the demolition process. We expect it, so it is nothing special.

Keeps the Wild shipshape. We approve of that.

Rule Britannia

4-21RuleBritannia
This is in tribute to the present queen of the United Kingdom, Elizabeth the Second. In case you forgot, last August she became the longest reigning monarch in UK history, having surpassed Queen Victoria finally.

Today she turns 90, which is a long run, in and of itself. We Rhinos say, good for her. Keep up the good work, Ma’am.
