Mr. Oscar Wilde, a 19th c. wit and author, wrote: “The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention”.
Yes, says Your Inner Rhino.
Money doesn’t grow on trees, We are told. In fact, most things do not grow on trees, including Cement Mixers.
Bark, and leaves, and fruit grow on trees, much of them edible. Bees and monkeys and squirrels and other critters live in trees, but that is not quite the same thing.
As Cement Mixers do not grow on trees, YIR suggests We all take them a little more seriously when We encounter one.
Mr. Harry Houdini, b.1874, is world famous for getting out of unusually complex situations. He was an Escapologist. And quite a Showman.
The traps and tricks from which Mr. Houdini liberated himself were seemingly impossible to defeat. Yet he managed, time after time, to astound his audience.
Rhino Thinking may not be tricksy enough to help Us elude snares. Too bad for Us. We are not cunning.
Wickedness is common enough in Fairy Tales. Rhinos have heard all about these Villains and their devious ways. In all cases these characters come to a shabby and abrupt end, unwillingly promoting Happiness in their absence.
But, We see that these Villains almost always get the Best Wardrobe. What is the moral of that, hmmm?
IF We are to believe that changing our Present will change our Future, then might We not also select an altered Past, thus altering both our Present and our Future?
And may Fiction of any kind alter our view, thus rearranging all our interpretations and perceptions?
The same might be said of Facts, but Rhinos have doubts about Facts, one way and another.
To avoid confusion: Rhinos are not against hugging. Hugs are both affectionate and reassuring. However, Rhinos are seldom asked for a second hug, mostly because our Hug-Muscles have sketchy controls.
When a 4 thousand pound critter hugs you, you stay hugged… assuming you survived the first one.
Rhinos are fueled by Enthusiasm.
February 3 was Ferdinand Magellan’s birthday, back in 1480. He is remembered for sailing around the world, the first ship to manage it. He himself did not complete the voyage (1519-1522), having been killed in the Philippines. The ship was then captained by Juan Sebastian Encano. But Magellan did the legwork, so he gets the credit.
We Rhinos are not clear on how Sr. Magellan managed it, with a flat earth. But stranger things have happened. Frequently. Daily, and often hourly.

A YIR Reader asks about Alien Life Forms here on Earth. We Rhinos have no good reason to doubt they exist, here or elsewhere. We have no visible proof to offer for Beauty or other subjective evaluations; why insist that Aliens conform to our Earthly Expectations?
For all We know, they are around Us all the time, attending to their Alien Agenda. Possibly they help Us out now and then. Why fuss about it?
“We shall see what We shall see” is the Rhino Approach to these issues.
