Play MONOPOLY Day

That’s right! This is it! A day to hone your skills and lose your temper at this board game, invented in 1903 by Elizabeth Magie, later published by Parker Brothers in 1935.

Rhinos venture to play this game at a distinct disadvantage. We own nothing, so the intricacies of bartering and economics are mostly meaningless.

Still, anything with little plastic houses and colorful paper money can’t be all bad, right?

Trailblazing

Sir Wm. S. Gilbert (b.1836), of Gilbert & Sullivan fame, wrote the books, dialogue, and lyrics for the pair’s many hugely successful operettas. Their talents complimented one another in every way. For most people, they exist primarily as a unit: Gilbert&Sullivan. Their influence on musical theatre has been profound.

Of course, Rhinos did not sing their songs to themselves before G&S wrote them; for that pleasure We had to wait. But We have made up for the delay with vigor. As clever as clever can be!

Happy Birthday, Mr. Gilbert. And thank you.

Flynoceros

Rhinos do not fly in the usual way, at least Not Yet.

It could be argued that Rhinos are not meant to fly ever, simply because We have not done it to date, that We know of. But there’s the hitch, right? Maybe We have flown all over the place when We weren’t paying attention, long ago. Our RAncestors may have suppressed that part to keep Us cheerful today.

So our hopes are high! Optimism is a Rhino Duty, ask anybody.

Fill ‘er Up!

Today is National Candy Corn Day. Candy Corn was “created” by Mr. George Renninger of the Wunderle Candy Company in the 1880s. Like it or not, everybody knows what it is.

The illustration does not truly represent the confectioner’s art; it is more in the spirit of the Halloween season.

Thanks, say We

Today, October 20, marks the third Anniversary of Your Inner Rhino.com.

We are going with the patchwork look, that being the nature of our presentation. A bit of this, a shred of that, loosely stitched together with whatever comes to hand.

As always, We are grateful for your continued Attention. Tell your friends, bully your relatives, collar complete strangers. Semper Rhino.
