When Rhinos are young, We try on many personas, styles, approaches.
Sometimes We keep those attributes for life, sometimes We keep shopping.
Mostly We mix and match…
Mr. L.F. Baum, author of ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ and its many subsequent Oz books, was born today in 1856. Generations of critters, young at heart, have enjoyed his richly imaginative work.
One thing he seems to have overlooked was the Rhino potential for adding delight to the Land Of Oz.
Rhinos have often thought We would have been useful as the Rhino Road Repair for the Yellow Brick Road. Sadly, We can’t have it all our own way, more’s the pity.
No matter what We Rhinos might like to suppose, We are not the same as Yesterday. We are only on our route to Tomorrow, with whatever’s in store.
It might make a rational critter jumpy, but We Rhinos have lasted a long time, simply attending to Today. Today works for Us.
Overall, are We improving? We like to think so. No moment is impervious to Criticism, after all.

Rhinos are not immune to Desires, to Temptations, to Envy. No, We stand guilty as charged, at the fence, peering over.
But ultimately, We are forced to acknowledge that We are not sure just what it is We lack. If We do.
It’s worth wondering about.
Rhinos are prey to all sorts of Ideas and Concepts, none of which seem to have a known source. When We are distracted, as Rhinos often are, these Obscurities creep up and jump into our heads.
These are Subliminal Thoughts and Impressions, coming from wherever they come from, and staying as long as they like. We may not even know they are in there, exerting their influence.
It is small wonder that Rhinos are sometimes taken aback by our own special Logic. Golly.
It’s William Shakespeare’s birthday so YIR is reposting a dramatic picture from August 2016, commemorating washed hands just after things got out of hand. It is part of a tongue-in-cheek series on Shakespeare’s plays.
Shown is Mrs. Macbeth, a-washing away her criminal collusion in dastardly doings. In Scotland, no less.
