Speaking of Climate, Rhinos used to deal with Cool Circumstances. Nature, always thoughtful, helped Us out with fuzzy outfitting, which was Appreciated. And still is.
Just how We managed to find food has gotten lost in the shuffle. Or the system has been shelved for Future Reference, should things get chilly again. Which they will in time. Naturally.
No. We did not have toboggans. They did not figure into our assignment at the time.
Nowadays Rhinos (all five families) live in warmish places. Some are warm and dry, others warm and moist. Either way, precipitation varies with the seasons.
Given that Rhinos are flexible, We work with what We get, where We get it. And when.
FYI: Rhinos do not sweat as other critters do. We have our own secret system.
Temperament is not predictable, one Rhino to another. Some of Us are more Demure than others, some are more full of Tabasco.
But often, Rhinos of a defined Disposition assemble in a locale and Social Expectations shift, at least in that region.
Must everyone conform to that norm? Generally speaking, no.
In the Wild, We see a lot of things go on. Many of them seem pointless or stupid. But there they are, served up piping hot. Mistakes in the Wild can be cataclysmic.
On our good days, Rhinos learn something from witnessing these events.
Like, how to avoid them ourselves.
When a Monstrous Serpent decides to ingest one of Us, We Rhinos do not cower. We would not give the Serpent the satisfaction.
No, We show them our stiff upper lip, and perhaps hum or whistle to display our indifference to their efforts.
Then the Serpent gets depressed and slithers away. It works every time. Ask anybody.
Every Rhino is a contributor to the RhinoMyth; that’s just a fact. Together, Rhinos are a Natural Accomplishment.
However, each one of Us has a solo experience of the world, a path each of Us follows to its natural conclusion.
We are just noting the situation, not critiquing it.
Rhinos are keen observers of Nature. We keep an eye out for possibilities; maybe some other critter does things We haven’t done, but might do, now that We consider a new option.
Squirrels are interesting, but they seem so nervous, almost frantic. These are not recommended paths for Rhinos. How could We maintain bulk if We were always scampering hither-thither? And all that chattering?
We do like the idea of living in trees though. Oh, and front teeth.
Rhinos would be lacking something if We could not experience doubts and distresses. We try not to look for trouble, but We can’t win ’em all.
Sometimes, We just have things on our minds.
