RhinoThesaurus

Today Your Inner Rhino lionizes, lauds, and panegyrizes the gift of Peter Roget (b.1779), namely his Thesaurus. His effort to synthesize the English language enriches anybody who chooses to explore the subtleties of language.

Rhinos exercise a similar delicate distinction with Scent, which is perhaps why We extol Mr. Roget’s work. His Inner Rhino shimmered. And shimmers on.

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow!

We used to have Ice Ages. Big, long and chilly, that was the Rhino Assessment.

If you want to make your own Glacier, you need special ingredients: First you need a Lot of Snow, plus cold temperatures to prevent melting the Snow away. Then add a lot of Time, and the Snow mounts up: Voila!, your very own Glacier.

Or maybe not. It turns out that Nature has to do projects this large. They are trickier than they look.

Visionary

M. Louis Braille, born 1809 in France, lost his sight in childhood. But by the age of 15, he had developed the system of reading named for him. It works by raised dots on a page.

Rhinos have eyesight, but it isn’t as acute a sense as scent or hearing. Or touch, which is what braille depends upon.

Mighty impressive contribution from M. Braille, with countless grateful beneficiaries.

Humble Heroics

Today is J.R.R. Tolkien’s birthday (1892). He wrote The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, tales of fantastic adventures undertaken for the preservation of Decency.

Sagas of such experiences are common in Rhino Lore, but are too complex to detail in Your Inner Rhino. Just take it from Us, there are lots of similarities.

Clearly, Mr. Tolkien’s inner Rhino was working full time. What else would explain his achievements?
