Comparing Notes

A question occasionally arises about how much one critter’s Life is worth versus another critter’s. Is a Rhino’s life more meaningful than a gnat’s?  A gorilla’s more meaningful than a grasshopper’s? Or a rutabaga’s?

It is not possible to tell, because the value of any life is determined by Nature. Each Being has a purpose, but We don’t get to know it. We can only assume that each and every one is contributing to a Great Answer.

This consideration helps to keep Rhinos humble. Sort of.

And the Rains Came

For you Rain Enthusiasts, now to September is a fine time to visit Us in Nepal. Yes, it’s the Rainy Season, on which We vegetarians all depend.

Not only does the water make everything grow, but it controls the dust, and restores our faith in Variation.

“The world is mud-licious and puddle-wonderful”, to quote e.e. cummings.

Out to Luncheon

Delirium is often spoken of as though it were an undesirable state of mind, typified by a lack of self-control and peak emotion.

Rhinos do not see Delirium quite that way. We feel as though our Delirious Side is lurking around each elbow, ready to take the reigns when needed. And frankly, We are grateful for the backup. Even the most stately Rhino needs to let it all out, the often-er, the better.

Delirium is one of the regulated Rhino’s Default Valves.

Expectations

Rhinos are always arriving someplace new, on one level or another.

What’s funny is that things are never Quite what We expected. They may be familiar, but Nature is constantly tweaking events and responses. Things seem the same, but then We notice a weensy shift, and it’s Unknown Territory. Surprise!

Nature is cagey that way. Keeps Us on our toes.
