Prince Charming

My Hero

A little Romance, no matter how improbable, spices things up in the Wild. Romance gives shape to an afternoon. We can pretend We are helpless and mindless, pining for somebody to trot up and save the day. Make-believe never hurt anybody, in strictly limited doses.

Life in the Wild serves up plenty of Reality. Romance can help, but it shouldn’t be confused with Reality; that would lead to Expectations. Expectation is not Natural. We have to understand that what comes, comes. We need to stay alert 24/7.

Rhino vision is second-rate enough without Rose-Colored Glasses. A very little RCG goes a long way.

Epicurean Voluptuaries on the hoof

Chef

We do eat only greens. However, being blessed with palates of remarkable sensitivity, combined with Unparalleled Imaginations, We can concoct a banquet from whatever is available. Raw. In that sense, We are Master Chefs. Each and every one of Us. And it’s always “cooked” to order.

This is a useful capability in the Wild, in that We do not have kitchens or oven thermometers. Or waxed paper.

Disruptions #2

1-7runamokus

RunAmokus is probably the rowdiest of the Disruptions. Chaos and anarchy are insufficient; crashings about and leaps and a few cavorts are necessary to create fully-realized Disarray.

The Disruptions work together, though RunAmokus and Thunderumpus are definitely sidekicks. Their work is almost always spontaneous, wild-eyed, and mindless. It is their disregard of order that makes them so appealing to the Young whose R Tot activities are closely monitored. By Mom.

As young Rhinos mature, the Disruptions age too. Their basic nature does not disappear, but other developing Inner Rhino systems make them, well… less disruptive. Flare-ups still occur, but not with the trying regularity of childhood.

RunAmokus is not strictly gender-linked, but it is true that many male Rhinos do not acquire the same level of control as females. And vice versa, sometimes too. Ask anybody.

Fine Companions

Excellence for Excellence’ Sake

R&Palette

Masterpieces are not as rare as some folk think. We think of ourselves in that light, all the time. We also extend that concept to everyone around Us, Rhino and others as well. We figure Nature is always working toward some engaging but incomprehensible definition of Perfection, so We are part of that plan, like everyone else. Nobody is more crucial to the Whole than anybody else; We are all working to do our bit to improve matters.

If We can’t grasp the perfection of another critter, We try to work on our thinking, not on that critter. For all We know, that critter has an inside track on something truly nifty, something We could learn. An amazing system when you think about it. So many teachers. All together We, you, they make a pretty outstanding gallery, All Masterpieces.

Hopping & Skipping

Change, big time

Nature most often gives signals of Momentous Change before it happens. Some events happen at an amazing pace; the warning timeframe can be brief indeed.

Part of our species’ success rests on our ability to Pay Attention. When it’s time to pack up and move out, one must. You get one warning; it’s foolhardy to wait for the second notice. Admittedly, it used to be easier to go somewhere else; Back Then there was somewhere else to go.

Because nothing is entirely predictable, We recommend staying in shape, in case an exit is ultra-hasty. If We can’t be clever, We can be Quick.
