True Fact: Each and every Rhino is always changing. We go to bed one thing, and awake another. We go to bed somebody else. Better or worse is not the point here, just the inevitability of change.
We can only conclude that this is how Nature has Us mapped out. This is the plan, whether Rhinos notice it moment to moment, or not.
This way, there is no point in getting too snarled up about anything. Inside, outside, We are about to be somebody else.
There is a scientific explanation of why tonight’s full moon is called The Pink Moon. It’s named for a flower called a pink.
It is also a Super Moon, which means ‘Biggest.’ Rhinos have always know the moon could change size, and now it turns out We were right. (If We weren’t, We wouldn’t have mentioned it.)
The pink flower is a Phlox. Yes, pink, but not too tasty.
Today is National Dandelion Day, and We Rhinos applaud the Dandelion along with all you Readers.
Rhinos judge plants as meals rather than by their appearance. Dandelions are exceptional in Nature’s pantry; every part is edible, from the roots to the leaves to the golden button on top. Yummy.
Dandelions are pretty, but mostly, they are pretty tasty.
Rhinos are devoted to Rain, mostly because it shows up when We have just about had it with dryness. Then, plop-plop-plop, and We are back in business.
It is then that Rhinos practice our skipping and cavorting. And giggling.
Nobody much enjoys being short-tempered. Honest.
Every day, We Rhinos like to sing the praises of Grass. It comes in a zillion forms and flavors, it’s everywhere.
Grass is only about 55 million years old, like the Rhino Family. But Rhinos didn’t invent Grass; Nature did, making many happy critters, Rhinos and Friends.
Still, We Rhinos do encourage Grass at every opportunity. Seems like the least We can do.
There is an old African Proverb that goes: No matter how you wash a goat, it still smells like a goat.
This is the sort of wisdom that encourages Rhinos, worldwide. We will always smell Rhino.
What reminder could be more welcome?
Plants play by a set of rules We Rhinos only imperfectly grasp. They seem to always agree with one another, at least as We understand things.
Plants are aggressive, certainly. Always on the move, cycling their capacities on some regular, inexplicable course, doing their thing. Give them an opportunity, and they are all over it, literally.
The good news is that they move slowly as a general rule. At least slower than We do, which is our main concern.
Rhinos can mostly tell when We are dreaming, primarily because things smell different, less subtle but riveting over there. And there is almost always surprising food in dreams; that’s how they serve it up.
Is it any wonder We look forward to catching a few winks?
No, it is not any wonder at all.
None of the Staff at ‘Your Inner Rhino‘ could recall the word “petrichor” when asked. After a little scrambling, We came up with the definition, and a delightful one it is.
Petrichor refers to the scent released when a first rain lands on stone or soil, the rich bouquet when the waters get delivered.
While We all appreciate the word, Rhinos marvel at the phenomenon.
We Rhinos were surprised to learn that there is a word for the Rhino Communications Systems: Kinesics. It means an expressive system, using no Words whatever. Rhinos, and many other critters, are adept at Kinesics.
We are good at practicing it, and good at reading it from others. All it takes is a little attention to detail, and We all know what We all are thinking and doing… or about to do.
Some do not associate Aromatics with Kinesics, but Rhinos can’t imagine why not. Maybe it’s an Official Oversight somewhere along the line?
