Surprise!

Happy Mother’s Day, all you Mothers out there. Here at YourInnerRhino, We decided to deal from the top of the deck with our Readers: for Us, Motherhood is mostly characterized by Astonishment. For some critters, it may be simplicity itself, but for Us, it’s all about trying to assess whatever is happening and not getting swamped.

Part of our problem may be the Rhino Pregnancies last about 15 months. By the time the Tot appears, We have forgotten We are ‘expecting’, except all of a sudden, here is a 75-100 pound Assignment! And it just rattles on along those tracks for a few years. It’s catch-up. And then the Tot is grown, and is off on its own Quest. B-Bye.

And then We do it all over again. As We say, Bewildering. Happy, but Bewildering.

In Training

Rhinos are always grateful for Nature’s attentions in creating our species. But We can’t help wondering if there aren’t a few improvements lurking around the corner.

Armadillos make good and encouraging teachers . Rhinos often wonder if rolling into a ball would enhance our experience in the Wild. Unfortunately, to date none of Us has managed it.

Neither Effort nor Practice has been enough. Perhaps Rhinos are meant to appreciate what We have.

Thither and Yon

Rhino Minds are notorious for our Amazing Agility. An idea pops up, ricochets around the rink like a hockey puck, and We are off to the races!

One part of the mind goes one place, and fifteen other parts go to sixteen other places. What it lacks in organization, this system makes up for in Enthusiasm and Cunning. Of a seldom-discussed sort.

It’s pretty thrilling being Us. Right?

Rolling Stones…

Acupressure is a fine solution to the irregularities that besiege Big Critters. Kinks are bound to happen, and Rhinos deal with them, with vigor.

Fortunately, many of these Activity Woes take care of themselves; there are points on our feet which respond to pressure, and so naturally solve our problems. How they do it, Rhinos cannot say. But do it, they do.

For tough spots, Rhinos use Roller Theory; when We exert a ton or two onto a pebble, the offending area relents, almost always. Then We’re back in business.
