Richard III is a History Play, theoretically detailing his getting the crown. The play presents Richard as cunningly diabolical and also bad. Next-to-nobody survives, mostly thanks to his schemings.
(His real birthday is today, but in 1452, FYI.)
Scene One takes place in Richard’s Winter, about which he is discontented. He tells Us so. Also, there is a shortage of horses at the end of the play.
Happy birthday to Confucius, who was born in 551 BC, which was a while ago. He was a philosopher, which proves his Inner Rhino was on the job, sorting out the Mysteries of Life. He was interested in getting things organized.
We salute him, despite Rhino disinterest in regimentation and governance.
And no, as far as We know, Confucius didn’t invent chopsticks.
Yesterday was Winsor McCay’s birthday, in 1869. A great illustrator with a sparkling gift for narrative- all in all, his work is a non-stop pleasure… at least, that’s the Rhino Viewpoint.
“Little Nemo in Slumberland” has his hero dashing about in a dream landscape. All of it is lovely and engaging and inspiring.
Like Nemo, Rhinos can make these mental jaunts without going to bed, but then, We don’t have beds.
Today John Chapman was born in 1774. He planted lots of cider apples, thus the name Johnny Appleseed, right?
Rhinos distribute a lot of seeds themselves, just in their daily rounds. The seeds go in one end and out the other, dispersing them wherever they land.
Yet another fine Natural System. We’re happy to help out.
When Rhinos are born, We know a lot already about Rhinoness, and a good thing too. We arrive with an array of gifts and understandings. (see Dec. 6, 2014 in the Archive)
What We lack is Experience. But that is OK, because Experience is on its way, every whichaway. We can’t turn the corner without another one grabbing Us and shaking Us up.

‘World Rhino Day’ overwhelmed Us here at Your Inner Rhino. We are still woozy with the honor of the planet’s attention.
Still, the Autumnal Equinox, whatever that may be, is going on, even as We post. It has to do with yesterday not being today, depending on where you are. Also the seasons. These demarcations have meaning for the informed.
Take this revelation and make of it what you can.

Dreams provide unusual companions. Situations have their own peculiar tilt. What are Rhinos supposed to make of these encounters?
We are not sure. We aren’t even sure of what We would like to be sure of.

Arthur Rackham was born today in 1867. He was renowned for his children’s illustrations in an age of great artists. Soft color glazes and robust line make his work exceptional. And yummy.
Mr. Rackham gave lovely humor and vigor to Fairyland, making it feel familiar. Interest in fairies has to be nurtured, and Mr. Rackham’s efforts did all of that and more.
Rhinos are always surprised that Beliefs come and go, like Fashions. Belief in fairies makes Rhino lives richer, whether We have met any or not.
