Groucho Marx was a whacky comedian on stage and in film, and later, in the fifties, had a TV show called You Bet Your Life. He was a professional smart aleck.
Rhinos all like him. High energy and rambunctious. With that combo, how can anybody go wrong?
Mae West was the original Blonde Bombshell, with a great deal to say about relations between the sexes. She was nobody’s fool.
Her humor is very Rhino-Friendly, having lots of spin and innuendo. Heh heh.
Today was Oscar Wilde’s birthday, in 1854. A remarkable wit and commentator, Mr. Wilde’s target was the limited thinking that led to British complacency, a sense of privilege and superiority that he felt could use some serious re-examination, on every level.
He was Stylish and demanding. Many of his contemporaries found him distinctly unsettling. Today many people find his work confusing, given the byplay of ideas, one against another.
He is often quoted, but Rhinos like this: “True friends stab you in the front.”

US President Calvin Coolidge retired from office in 1929. He was spoken of as “Silent Cal”, being a man of few words, or fewer. He was from Vermont.
His is an approach which might recommend itself to many modern political aspirants.
“Least said, soonest mended”, and all that.
Here is a remark from H.L. Mencken, a newspaper man, known for his no-nonsense approach to the workings of government, plus most everything else. He wrote for the Baltimore Sun.
Mr. Mencken distrusted popular sentiment. He was not universally adored, but then, who is?
In 1841 John Goffe Rand patented the first collapsible tube, designed originally for oil paints, which did not store well when exposed to air. (Mr. Rand was a portrait painter.) Further uses have been found for his invention, as you doubtless know.
Acknowledgement never hurts, albeit in hindsight.

In 1871, Chicago had a Big Uh-Oh!, and a lot of the town went up in flames. The idea was that Mrs. O’Leary’s cow kicked over a lantern, but nobody knows that for certain.
