4-6 YesterdayFl

Rhinos are good with Yesterday. We recall scents, sounds, sensations, sights, and scenarios. However, We don’t cherish those impressions for long, nor do We fret with accuracy. The day before Yesterday is mostly blurry, and the day before that is history.

Yesterday fits together in an intricate way. We have memories that appealed, those that made little difference, gaps where an idea might have been, some emo-tinted bits, others enhanced, and a few expunged as distasteful . The daily business items tend to fade instantly. We will see those parts again Tomorrow.

When a critter is as hyper-sensitive as We, there is limited storage room for Nostalgia. Rhinos are about Today.

The Case of Chicken v. Egg

3-23 Philosoph

Rhinos are Nature’s philosophers; it’s just how We are made. (It may be due to our demi-Greek heritages.) Give Us a problem and We will mull it over, assuming it interests Us or We understand the question.

We do not bother to formalize our determinations however. We would be certain to change our conclusions sooner (likely) or later (less likely). Lack of documentation of our cogitations is a help, and saves wear and tear on the Environment.

Rhinos are Globally-Conscious if nothing else.

Elaborations

3-22 Developments

Rhinos have daily activities, all of which are self-explanatory to any living critter. We attend to those needs and let it go at that.

But there are Ideas that come a-creeping in when We are looking the other direction. And once an Idea gets going, it can go in about a zillion directions, each Idea spawning baby Ideas, putting rabbits to shame. Then Ideas start creating lists and charts and graphs, all celebrating the Big Idea, whatever that was.

Rhinos are not Idea Phobic. Or not entirely. Just much shadow of a doubt.

Yesterday TBA

3-20 Yesterday +

Yesterday is a part of the Rhino Process; it got Us to Today. It’s nice if We learned something Yesterday, but sometimes learning nothing has its merits. What exactly We picked up Yesterday may be an element in a bigger picture, the coin that eventually drops. Possibly. Doubtless. TBA.

Who can say? Tomorrow may turn out not to be our issue at All.

Tomorrows do that sometimes.

Location, Location, Location

3-6 Opportunity

In our millions of years of Experience, Rhinos have concluded that all lands are Lands of Opportunity. Some appear more promising than others, it’s true. Some places seem more user-friendly than others.

Fortunately for our Species, Rhinos like a challenge. It may account for our ongoing happy dealings with Nature. And in some unlikely locations, We must say. We eat what is dished out.

We also keep our eyes peeled for options.

Aggressionary Musing

3-7 S-defense

Occasionally Rhinos are asked why We don’t defend ourselves better from the hi-tech onslaughts of the World. We are always surprised, since the answer is obvious. There is no adequate defense against sophisticated weaponry, plus, We own nothing.

Where are the bragging rights in killing a defenseless critter, man or Rhino?

Rhinos must deal with Nature, daily. There We can stand our ground, win or lose. And We do. Unarmed.

Grimm Conclusions

2-28 Grimm&Grimmer

Our young gadabouts set off for home after plundering the Witch’s house of jewels and probably a few cupcakes for the road. For these two it is a Happy Ending; for the Witch, not so much. There is a lot to mull over in the resolution of this tale. Hansel & Gretel is just like War and Peace, only different.

An ongoing issue is Hansel’s weight gain. One of Us here at YIR is trying to be more “nutritionally disciplined”, so Hansel has our sympathies. A literary kindred spirit.

Grimm Confrontationalities

2-26 Redhanded

Hansel and Gretel face heavy odds. Unfortunately, the Witch is more powerful than they, and grasps their points of weakness.

Ah, Generational Strife. We Rhinos understand this opposition; young Rhinos need to keep on the good side of bigger Rhinos. Older Rhinos discourage flippancy among the young, sometimes with cataclysmic results.

We must face it: Hansel and Gretel is packed with tension and psychological complexity; it’s exhausting. Only Your Inner Rhino would undertake a study so demanding.
