Splitlevel Point of View

6-15 Wordnamics

Words are tricky little units, each having some meaning which makes it different from all the other words. The given word (see top) grabs focus, and makes the Reader’s mind function in some special way, as part of some complex equation. Communication.

Words are made to limit the range of the  mind, to get specific, to cut to the chase. “Cow” not “How” nor “Wow”.

We Rhinos are not really into language, that way. For Us, any given word is simply removed from the enormity of the rest of what there is to grasp or appreciate. Why waste the time on the one “not thing” when there is so much left to revel in? Each word is like a negative space, an idea removed from the aggregate enormity of everything else. (see below)

Right? Not to mention, words have no scent. Honestly, now.

a Sense of Proportion

6-13 comprehension

We have mentioned before that Rhino skills with numbers are limited, practically non-existent. We are OK with the more-versus-less ideas, but nailing down the ‘how much’ seems unnatural to Us. While nailing, the ‘facts’ are bound to change anyway.

Today’s focus is on the equation, scientifically presented on the board; We wish to demonstrate that what We know altogether at any given moment is minuscule in proportion to what there is to know, wherever it is lurking.

Undaunted by our limitations, We press on. Why not?

on a roll

6-12 Wheelmakerz

One  noteworthy feature of growing up is that We each reinvent the wheel. Not literally of course, since a wheel is a thing and Rhinos are not into thing-ness. Still, whatever the issue, each of Us feels sure that We see it in dazzling ways unforeseen by anybody else ever. Genius.

It’s part of finding out how breathtakingly remarkable our minds are. It’s part of waking up. It’s Big Fun.

Also, the process makes Us sassy, always a good thing.

In one ear and out the other…

6-10 Streams

Our subject today is Streams of Consciousness. This somewhat tortured illustration shows how it works, give or take. Sometimes We think our ideas come from Inside, sometimes Outside, and both ways We are right. The border line between Inside and Outside is blurry. Where do We leave off and the Rest of Everything commence?

We would like to point out that each of Us makes a contribution to the Outside, like it or not: things come down the Cosmic Streams of Consciousness, process themselves inside Us, and then, enhanced, go on their way. Given the preoccupations inside our heads a lot of the time, it might clarify why things are in such a bizarre state so often. Who can define an enhancement?

Are Rhinos the movers-and-shakers of the Butterfly Effect? Ponder that one, if you please.

Curtains Up!

6-9 Thespiana

There are many small irritations which We must endure in the Wild. For that reason We try to avoid periods of tempestuous emotion and aggrandized strife on a daily basis. Habitual resort to Frenzy easily leads to a life dedicated to Drama, which is generally unattractive. Good morning, I’m Onstage! Five minutes please, five minutes please.

We are not anti-silly; We just like our silly moments to be more unpredictable. Also, widely spaced can be more engaging than otherwise.

Location, Location, Location

6-7 OnTheGo!

We are an on-the-go species, We Rhinos. We have been to a lot of places, done a lot of things when We got there, and then moved along yet again, sooner or later. Some excursions last a month, others last 4 million years. We are presently residing in Asia and Africa, but those locales are not of long standing really. In Africa We only got there 10 million years ago (who’s counting?), and then diversified, familial-wise, that is.

Wanderlust is a part of the package, but it is not a constant factor for each and every one of Us. For some of Us the Nomad Volume is cranked up high, for others it is just a background noise. Some family groups are home bodies, others just gotta get out of that place, if it’s the last thing they ever do, as it were.

No solution to location is superior to another. Whatever does the trick does the trick.

Val-de-Ri, Val-de-Rah, Val-de-Rah ha ha ha ha ha, etc.

Cause & Effect

Effect ???

We are not sure where many phenomena come from. How they happen, or why they occur is not knowable. We credit what We see, but the cause is often mysterious.

Rhinos are resigned to varying amounts of cloudiness on most issues. It seems silly to pretend We comprehend the Wild, right?

Or even comprehend ourselves. We just do the best We can.

Loners

5-29 We-ness!

None of Us is ever alone. We might look like We are alone, but no.

We have our immediate family, the other Rhinos in the area, each doing whatever seems needful at the time.

We have all the other R family members, all over the place, all backing Us up, cheering Us on. Enjoying Us.

And We have all the Rhinos that have gone before Us, 55 millions years worth, all rejoicing in Us today.

Each of Us is a Crowd. All Partying. Inside.

Glimpsing

5-29 PkaBoo

Peek-a-Boo is definitely a Rhino invention, whatever you may have heard to the contrary. Ancient skills are involved in Peek-a-Boo, enriching Rhino Life from the cradle to the grave.

One of the aspects skillfully rendered here is the issue of Peripheral Vision, the ability to look more ways than one. Peripheral vision is  where most of our most Brilliant Insights present themselves, fleetingly Peeking Out to pique our interest. Teasing and enticing, those Brilliant Ideas. Peek-a-Boo!

If We were not trained up to pay attention, to grasp these esoteric what-have-yous, We would probably not be the species We are today. Receptive: That’s Us.
