Timely Warning

3-12 Fix-M-Up
Tonight is the night when something happens with clocks. We don’t tell time, We Rhinos, so it is a purely hypothetical speculation. For Us, it’s sun up, sun down, and stages in-between.

Still, our Readers like timing things, so We do too, in a Spirit of Camaraderie. Can’t get too much of that!

Social Observations

3-9 Punk

Rhinos are sensitive, and when We are under the weather, one way or another, We do not require anyone to say We look tired, lousy, or blue. If it looks like that from the Outside, try to understand that it looks that way a lot more from the Inside.

Each of Us already knows when it’s not a good day. Truly, We do.

Location, Location, Location

3-6 Opportunity

In our millions of years of Experience, Rhinos have concluded that all lands are Lands of Opportunity. Some appear more promising than others, it’s true. Some places seem more user-friendly than others.

Fortunately for our Species, Rhinos like a challenge. It may account for our ongoing happy dealings with Nature. And in some unlikely locations, We must say. We eat what is dished out.

We also keep our eyes peeled for options.

Aggressionary Musing

3-7 S-defense

Occasionally Rhinos are asked why We don’t defend ourselves better from the hi-tech onslaughts of the World. We are always surprised, since the answer is obvious. There is no adequate defense against sophisticated weaponry, plus, We own nothing.

Where are the bragging rights in killing a defenseless critter, man or Rhino?

Rhinos must deal with Nature, daily. There We can stand our ground, win or lose. And We do. Unarmed.

Seasons Greetings

3-4 Seasons

Antonio Vivaldi (born this date in 1678) composed The Four Seasons. It was then and is now a big hit.

Rhinos are all for Seasons, but in the Wild, Seasons are unpredictable. We can never be sure what Seasons will get up to, one year to the next. They account for Trends, but the Specifics are all higgledy-piggledy. From our point of view, there may be two seasons, or possibly a new one daily.

With weather, all bets are off.

Leap Year or Leap Day?

2-29 HappyLandings
Whatever it is, you Readers are probably aware that Rhinos are not high on the list of Leaping Critters.

We face this situation with no shame. We make an effort to be light on our feet, and let it go at that. When a Species is measured in tons, the results of leaping can be pretty amazing, a formula for Trouble.

We are of Good Cheer: tomorrow will be March. We think…

Grimm Conclusions

2-28 Grimm&Grimmer

Our young gadabouts set off for home after plundering the Witch’s house of jewels and probably a few cupcakes for the road. For these two it is a Happy Ending; for the Witch, not so much. There is a lot to mull over in the resolution of this tale. Hansel & Gretel is just like War and Peace, only different.

An ongoing issue is Hansel’s weight gain. One of Us here at YIR is trying to be more “nutritionally disciplined”, so Hansel has our sympathies. A literary kindred spirit.

Grimm Confrontationalities

2-26 Redhanded

Hansel and Gretel face heavy odds. Unfortunately, the Witch is more powerful than they, and grasps their points of weakness.

Ah, Generational Strife. We Rhinos understand this opposition; young Rhinos need to keep on the good side of bigger Rhinos. Older Rhinos discourage flippancy among the young, sometimes with cataclysmic results.

We must face it: Hansel and Gretel is packed with tension and psychological complexity; it’s exhausting. Only Your Inner Rhino would undertake a study so demanding.
