It’s Can-Can Weather, right? It’s been almost 200 years since it came along in Paris, and remains a pleasingly flamboyant dance. Not to mention Good Exercise.
A feature of performing the Can-Can are the yips and squeals punctuating the kicks, splits and leaps. Rhinos are generally keen on inarticulate noises, but then, who is not?
Naughty Ooh-La-La dances never have any trouble getting an Audience. Not among Rhinos, at any rate.
In 1903 Mr. Victor Herbert’s operetta, ‘Babes in Toyland’, opened in New York. It has had many successful versions over the years, both on stage and in film.
It combines elements of opera, melodrama, and pageantry for the entertainment of children. The enterprise was modeled on the previous year’s big hit, ‘The Wizard of Oz’.
Rhinos enjoy light theatricals, now and then. As in, occasionally.
A standard Rhino greeting is “Happy Birthday”, and why not? No Rhino keeps track of such a thing, so the chances are, if not likely, not entirely out of the question either.
Perhaps today is your Birthday!? And if so, why not enjoy it to the Max?! Throw yourself a party and scintillate.

Today in 1542, Sr. Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo found himself offshore of San Diego. He claimed it for Spain, though he was Portuguese himself.
Rhinos are continually confused about this sort of Discovery. Clearly, California had been there all on its own for some time. Rhinos discover unfamiliar items all the time, but We don’t assume they now belong to Us. A riddle, We suppose.

Today is the National Day of the Cowboy.
Rhinos appreciate the music and the Buckeroo Attitude. And long-distance Spittin’.
Since We don’t ride horses, We have to pretend to be Bow-legged, iffn We wanna blend in.
Among the long list of National Holidays, Rhinos are intrigued by National Apple Turnover Day, which is today. We like to do our bit, although We are not clear about what gets accomplished.
Anyway, Congratulations.
Wild Strawberries grow all around the World. However, on July 3, 1806 Mr. Michael Keens, a British market gardener, introduced Strawberries he cultivated himself to the Horticultural Society of London. Today, almost all market Strawberries are related to his ‘Keens Seedling’ variety of the fruit.
Mr. Keens also discovered that Strawberries have male and female plants. Strawberries won’t grow if you don’t have both on hand. Who would have guessed?
So as We Rhinos gobble our Strawberry Shortcakes, We salute Mr. Keens’ endeavors; Credit where it is due.
