Dunno

9-14-dunno

There are few things more irritating than anybody saying ‘they know’, when clearly they don’t.

Rhinos all come with the understanding that Ignorance is our natural state. Why fuss about it?

It’s a great relief to simply admit We mostly know nothing. Trust Us.

King Lear is about a cranky king who divides his realm among his three daughters. Unfortunately, none of them is grateful enough to please Lear. He compares them unfavorably to snakes with sharp teeth before Act One is over. (see 9/1/16) Then things go downhill.

Expectations can lead to Catastrophe. Time has taught all Rhinos that little lesson. King Lear learns it, but too late for a happy ending.

Education can be expensive.

Playing by the Book

9-11-rule-book

Rules and Regulations and Statutes and Policies. All Important and Crucial. Many and many more of these codes and dictates. Some agree with one another, others not. These Rules come in clusters from two to a zillion and two.

Since Rhinos don’t count beyond 3 with any assurance, most Rules must be overlooked. Also, We are seldom confident about which set of Rules to apply today. What happens when We get it wrong… or right? Rules seem deliberately perplexing.

Rhinos have few Rules of our own. So far, so good.

Pulling yourself together…

Mary Shelley (b. 1797) wrote Frankenstein, about a doctor with Big Ideas. In the story there is Tension between the creator and the creation. Rhinos know all about it. What new recipe ever came out exactly as you wanted it? Or a relationship?

At YIR, We thought We would suggest that now is a good time to check your oil and kick your own tires, just to see that you are shipshape.

Why wait? Who wants to call the tow truck later?

On the Bright Side

8-29 worst2 worst

Life is filled with Ups and Downs, Rhino life no more nor less than any other critter. Our general aim is to enjoy the Ups, and do what We can to short-circuit or endure the Downs.

Good and Better are common. Bad and Worse are inevitable. Two sides of the same coin.

One thought to hold onto is that Worst will come to Worst only once. By comparison, the rest looks pretty good.
