Hopalong Rhino

7-20 hopscotch

We Rhinos are not accomplished Hoppers. We observe hopping, appreciate hopping, and occasionally yearn for hop-ability. Does this range of responses qualify Us for hopping itself? Apparently not.

Nonetheless, We keep our eye out for Hopscotch Developments. We want to be ready when Nature rings the gong.

That willingness and responsiveness are responsible for Rhino Longevity. We think.

To the point…

7-19 Degas

Edgar Degas, born in 1834 in Paris, is doubtless the most famous painter of Dancers, concentrating on their professional milieu, both the stage and the studio.

When it comes to the Ballet, Rhinos have an advantage, having three toes per foot. When We go on point, there is a lot of collateral stability.

A Good Thing(s), if there ever was(were) one.

Enter, in Style

7-18 JFucik cannon

Julius Fucik was born today in 1872, in Prague. He is the ‘Bohemian Sousa’, a reputation based on his many spirited compositions.

The Entrance of the Gladiators, a prime Fucik march, is mostly associated with Circus Extravaganzas. We recommend you look him up on YouTube, just for the associated thrill you will experience by hearing his work. Its familiarity is a good part of its appeal.

Rhinos applaud Extravagance in its many forms, don’t We?

I Scream, You Scream

7-17IceCreamDay

Yes, it is National Ice Cream Day, as well as Peach Ice Cream Day. Why these two days occur together is puzzling, but at Your Inner Rhino, We just report these celebrations; We don’t create them.

On a related topic: an indispensable tool for enjoying ice cream is the dipper with the mechanical scraper. This handy utensil was invented by Mr. Alfred L. Cralle in 1897. He was one of the first African-American inventors to receive a U.S. patent. All ice-cream lovers are grateful for his efforts on our mutual behalf.

And that is the latest Your Inner Rhino scoop…

Austrian Salute!

7-14 KLIMT

Today was Gustav Klimt’s birthday, back in Vienna in 1862. What a guy! Incredible amalgam of sensual line and decorative energy. And gold leaf.

When work is so brilliant, there isn’t a lot that words can do to enhance it. That is how We Rhinos feel about it.

We do applaud loudly, inside.

Great Expectations

7-12 PineWhatever 607

Most Rhinos do not live where there are either Pine Trees or Pineapples. So Ignorance can lead to problems or disappointments at Harvest Time.

Given a few hints, We connect the dots and get matters straightened out.

Pine Cone, Pine Apple, they sound so similar. Right? But We can tell you this: they don’t taste the same.

Oldies but Goodies

7-10 TeddyBearP

This is The Teddy Bears’ Picnic Day. We Rhinos are fond of this rollicky tune, and have been since it was written. The music, by JW Bratton, was writ in 1907. The words came later, when Jimmy Kennedy wrote them in 1932.

We recommend it.

It’s makes Us giggle. Rhinos are all pro-Giggle. It’s just the way We’re wired.

Reading between the Lines

7-8 603 palmistry

We Rhinos are not gifted Palm Readers. True, our feet are criss-crossed with wrinkles, but We don’t seem able to determine what they might mean. Occasionally We peer at them, trying to make out what message they send. So far, nada.

The idea of reading the Future, or the Past, or the Whatever is fun. It is something to do Now, if only for a few moments.

Plus all Rhinos like the idea of Bandanas, right? Our fashion sensibilities cannot be suppressed.
