Sumatra Tales

8-15 SumTales

The stories and histories that cement the Rhino Family come in many forms, for sure. The majority are related to scent, many to sound, but there are also visual springboards a-plenty.

Rhino Awareness is chock-full of stimulation as it is. Stories, however they are transmitted, help to keep things in perspective.

Rhinos are lucky. Who’d know better than We do?

YIR Food for Thought

8-11 hbirthdays

Birthdays are mostly good things in a mindless way. Yeah, yeah. Congratulations. But birthdays musn’t be taken for granted, say We Rhinos. In Nature, many things can throw you off track, once and for all.

We can bet on this: if We are interested in Longevity (and who isn’t?), We just have to accept that Birthdays are going to be part of the process, on a regular basis.

Stands to reason, right?

Progress

Progress by moment

The way We Rhinos look at it, one thing comes after the last one. We were there, then We are here, and before you know it, We will be in another there.

Time and events are both confounded by this idea. Time is elastic, so the step in question may be a moment or a month or both. Events may seem unrelated at the moment, but no moment is independent of the events before it. All involve choices We make and have made, taking Us where We are headed.

Simplicity itself, right?

Do-Overs

7-27 Fortuna

In the Wild, sometimes a mistake can be set aside, another chance is miraculously offered. Of course, that is not always the case, but on balance, all critters are remarkably lucky. Rhinos can be grateful for that fact.

But We do not claim any credit for these mercies. It is more than dumb luck, though it has no name. Fortune, for want of a better term?

Rhinos are generally fortunate. Not always, but often.
