Plain as the Nose on your…

Much of Philosophy is easy to grasp, after the initial panic that often curses education or thought. A Roman senator, named Boethius, born 480AD, did a lot for modern philosophy, back then.

He wrote about Philosophic Duality, the idea that things have opposite things, both familiar. But We would not grasp the one without the other for comparison. Seems straightforward. Clear thinking often feels that way, if you can find any.

He had other interesting things to say about Fate. We will save that for another day.

Clearing the cupboard

It is possible that our Readers assume that large Critters 1) don’t think much anyway, and 2) what thought they have can be stored forever inside that bulk. It might be a lot easier for Rhinos if you were correct.

Our problem is that We think So Much that there is no way to keep it all on tap. For that reason, We have to sit down now and again and download outdated or simpleminded material. It doesn’t take long, you will be happy to know. We just concentrate on our random preoccupations, and let go. It may not come out of our ears; that part might be fancicul. Or maybe not.

We always feel better afterwards. Who wouldn’t?

Fighting Temptation

Here We see the Knave of Hearts, caught red-handed. A sorry Business, indeed.

We felt it should be pointed out that a Life of Crime is only a few missteps away, as the Knave discovers. At least ditch the evidence. Think ahead, plot, plan, etc., etc.

A Heartfelt and Happy Saint Valentine’s Day, from Us to You.

Beginning of Japan

Yesterday was Japan’s National Foundation Day; the rules for it started in 660 BC, and it took a while for Us Rhinos to get the gist of it. 660 BC is the year selected, honoring Japan’s first Emperor, Emperor Jimmu. That emperor died in 550 BC, at which time Jimmu must have been 125 years old, at least.

After being confused, big time, We read more, learning that Emperor Jimmu may have lived only in Myth and Legend. And maybe they counted things differently back then. Nobody who was there at the time is around to consult.

This offers Us, one and all, an opportunity to gaze at ancient tales and ponder if they happened at all. We don’t need to reject the tales; they are meant to inspire a culture. Just what We do with them is at our discretion and comprehension.

(The 3-legged crow, Yagagarasu, was a pal to the emperor, giving him military data from the air.)

Holding their attention

Effective speech involves emphasis, making specific points on specific issues, raising the voice or bellowing. There are plenty of other refinements, like the pregnant pause, but they suggest themselves with experience.

Emphasize what’s necessary, and sometimes tell a story wherein the caution has been ignored. Those tales should end with colorful mishaps, just as a keepsake of the original discussion.

A Rhino does not need to rant, but sometimes it feels good, just to clear the air… or clear the auditorium.

Tricky Assignments

Some pursuits look more appealing than others, and We thought today We would point out the hazards of Glamour Jobs. We will concentrate on the Fairy Godparent task. Oh yes, oh yes, the outfit is probably fun to flit about in, but since it is ultra-imaginary, it can be reconceived in the Twinkle of an eye… (FG Humor)

FYI, the FG Recipient is pre-selected. Where things get tricky is that Recipients most often have no idea what to wish for. They are as unfamiliar with their motivations or goals as everyone else is. So what is the FG to do? Give the Recipient what is requested (a red balloon or a yacht), or choose something more promising on their behalf? (a slide whistle or grammar book?)

Rhinos are not often asked to do Fairy Godparenting. We are a bit crusty for the work. What’s for sure is: We are not asked to do it a second time.

Ducking and dodging

Some critters become disheartened by pesky issues that swarm here and there. Those critters get overwhelmed, using up a lot of energy. Without Energy, Rhinos cannot grow and maintain.

What to do, what to do??

The Rhino Scheme is to avoid these free-floating miseries by cleverly side-stepping them, which often results in new and delightful dance steps, a combination of athleticism and upbeat attitude. Rhinos call it Creativity, among other terms.
