Ambition

Rhinos like the idea of New Year’s Resolutions, the fantasy associated with simple changes, inspired by a list which We invariably lose within the hour. We can propose that We will be Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Cheerful, Brave, Obediant, Thrifty, Clean, and Reverent. Starting very soon.

But it sounds so unlikely, doesn’t it? It does to Us.

In the Cards

As you may know, Rhinos do not own any playing cards. We have to discover a deck by chance. Then We split the deck in two: all the face cards, the Joker and Ace, Two, Three. Then We toss the other cards away, since they don’t mean anything to Us.

Our games are always made up on the spot. We see cards too seldom to have any other policy. We adore the fashions for the face cards, but concentrate on the Aces and numbers. Nobody wins. It’s best that way. With no rules, a cheery free-for-all is inevitable.

Then if there are any further issues, We deal with them! (Get it?)

Having your cake…

Today is National Fruitcake Day, which will be a great relief for some. Rhinos love fruitcake. It is made with fruit and cake, a sure-fire combination.

The Cakewalk is a dance, made specially for such celebrations, plus other times too.

There are approximately one zillion family recipes, so you can’t go wrong, in case you want to hustle into the kitchen (where fruitcakes come from.)

Grace Notes

Today has been write-a-thank-you-note day. It’s a nice idea, although nobody enjoys the task.

Our big problem is that Rhinos never know what key the note is in. Darn.

Accept the sentiment, please, and ignore our epistulary shortcomings. We ignore them; there’s nothing to it.

Figgy Pudding, piping hot!

Fa la la la la, la al laaaaaaa lalalalalalalalalalaallalalalalalalalalalalala, la la.

One of the fortunate features of Rhino Imagination is that We are not burdened with actual wardrobe issues. Since We own nothing, We can access an outfit at a moment’s notice and it always fits. Also, it comes in a remarkable range of colors and trim, and We don’t need to do any maintainance or packing. Or wait until it goes on sale.

Talk about your Fa La La! La. La.

Solid Gold

Your Inner Rhino must apoliogize for missing the Publication date for Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm’s classic collection: ‘Children’s and Household Tales’. That was December 20, 1812, in case you forgot.

Not every story grabs Us Rhinos today, but in their time those may have been the tales most popular.

The Grimm brothers were librarians, linguists and folklorists. Each time their work was reprinted, there were stories added. They must have been busy.
