On an evening of celebration hosted by the Skokomish Tribe, the dinner scheduled for 6:30 had not been served by 9:30. The white folks were pretty miffed. The tribal chief made an announcement: “Many of you think our meal is very late. You try to see time linearly. We know time is a circle. We missed one 6:30, but we know another one is coming, so we don’t worry. In a few minutes, we’re going to serve a very early breakfast.”
