Rub-a-Dub-Dub

Rhinoceros eyes get tired after heavy usage. At such times it’s common to jam our fists into our eyes, and rub them. Sometimes the eyes work better, other times, not.

But what We want to point out is the oddity we see only when we look at the inside of our eyelids: that splotchy rosey blob-full impression. It’s partly exciting, partly confusing, mostly because it makes no Sense. Those blobs are the Phosphenes.

We like them because Rhinos spend so much effort making Sense of things, that the opportunity to expect nothing much, and receiving it, is a Luxury of sorts!

2-Way Street

Apparently many Readers are familiar with the theme of today’s post, but it came as a big shock to Us Rhinos. Fact is: ‘Desserts’ spelled backwards is ‘Stressed’. Seems pretty odd to Us, but it is kindof maybe mustbe so.

Is this a prank in action? We cannot say, but it does seem a pretty queer coincidence. Hm-Hmmmmmmm?

Off and Away

From time to time, a Rhino is filled with Wanderlust, an urge to go and see new critters and places and whatever else is going on. The obvious solution is to go investigate.

Sometimes it’s not possible, but a smashing alternative is the Library. Books are not the same as experience, mostly because the smells are missing. But somebody is trying to tell Us something of value. Shared Experience, once removed.

Books are exciting for Rhinos too, you know.

On the Bright Side

Rhinos are generally cheerful and upbeat. We have no needs which are not supplied by Nature, so what could go wrong?

Now and then there is a welcome, inexplicable surprise. A happy chance lands Us in the right place at the right time. Serendipity!

Apparently We Rhinos are designed to deal with these occasions without delay. Hot-ChaChaChaChaaaa!

Memories

Rhinos wonder about our Memories. The further away the Memory, the more We doubt, not the Memory in its basics, but what We have made it mean with Time.

Things that used to upset Us, today seem silly. We’ve rehashed the same narratives until they feel meaningless. And maybe they aways were.

Rhinos suspect that dreams, stories, lessons, fantasies and memories may all be stored in the same closet, each affecting the others.

Sasquatch

Rhinos don’t usually creep up on other critters, but it does happen. We try to look scary, but as soon as anybody gets upset, We squeal and giggle, thus ruining our triumph.

Besides, the audience usually smelled Us coming a while before We start our performance.

Some gags are not meant for the Wild.

Sweeties, s’more

Today is National Gumdrop Day. Yes. The day after Valentine’s, the uber-Candy holiday of the year, the Gumdrop Industry wants in on the action.

Who makes up these lists of Events? Who is the Cruise Director around here?

The problem is that Rhinos like gumdrops for their modest contribution to questionable dietary goals. We admit it.
