Rhinos would like, but do not expect, a resume of the folks in Dreamland, just what they are expected to do out there? As recipients of their services, We have some reservations.
We are never sure what improvements We’d suggest, but the one We all agree on is: Why can’t We ever remember what went on? We wake up with a response, and then, poof, it’s gone. Just vague impressions, possibly a mood.
Gives a Rhino the pip just to think about it.
In the Wild, Location is what it is all about. Location determines the weather, society, competition, diet, general security, and peace of mind. There is nothing to do about any of it. That’s the package, good news or not.
Well, We Rhinos are clever; We can go somewhere else!
Rhinos know a thing or two. Yup.
Leaves: Nifty!
What is a Rhino to do when things go wrong, but there is nobody to blame? Huh??!! Right. Grind our teeth and snort.
Surely there should be somebody to blame? Seems only fair.
Kicking things can help, but frankly, it still feels inadequate.
Some days just don’t seem to want to assemble themselves happily. On these occasions, We Rhinos have two choices: 1) be Crabby or 2) get Dynamic.*
Behind Door #2: Once our Imaginations kick in, We can experience our Tough and Astounding persona, and that’s helpful. Perks Us up.
*There may be a third choice, but We can’t think of it at the moment.
Rhinos do get lost in our Thoughts, sorting out fact from fiction, fiction from fiction, impressions and opinions, to name a few. It’s Wild.
As long as Rhinos don’t panic at the riches surrounding Us, things mostly work out.
And then, here We are once more, wagging our tails behind Us.
Some days demand more pondering and mulling than others. We focus on whatever, and see what it offers. Rhinos consider the angles, or scent, or season, etc.
What We don’t do while preoccupied with Big Matters, is pay much attention to where We are and What We’re doing.
Thus, We Rhinos can miss out on what’s up, here and now.
There is too much going on for Us Rhinos as We go from day to day. That is the main reason We don’t hold Grudges. They’re too demanding. Grudges need lots of attention.
Sensible Rhinos don’t want the bother. Resentment leaves a sour taste in the mouth. And nothing changes for the better.
Besides, in time, the Grudge will inevitably grow if We water it. Then We find We are not holding the Grudge; it is holding Us.
Stories are amazing, say We Rhinos. We look, or read, or listen, and We are taken to other places, other times, other folks, an Exposure to what’s what, and what was, and what might be coming our way. What went wrong, or right, often how and why. A lot to absorb and ponder.
We find all new places inside ourselves, and that’s a big enough Adventure for any Critter.
Emotion is funny, how it works. Sometimes We get a Zing from Scent, and sometimes, if a Rhinos are upset or distracted, Emotion affects our processes. We get a skewed idea of what a given Scent means. Or the given Scent gets flattened, losing its redolence and nuance.
The Moral of all that is; We can’t trust our noses if We are flipping out. To a lesser extent, Vision can also be limited, ditto our Hearing. Emotion works as a distraction. We become less discerning.
And that is not a Help because Rhinos live in the Wild.
