Hail Kentucky

Kentucky was admitted to the Union on June 1, 1792, making it the fifteenth state. (Yes, fifteen is as inconceivable for Rhinos as fourteen or four.) Kentucky is famed for its Blue Grass and its Derbies, both shown.

The State Flower is the Goldenrod, which makes very good eating, as any Rhino would happily tell you, first things first. In addition, it is also useful for millinery.

Salutations to one and all in Kentucky, from ‘Your Inner Rhino’. Eat Cake.

a Knock at the door

One thing that is seldom reported is Rhinos appearing in Readers’ neighborhoods, expecting a warm welcome and a photo op. We don’t drop in on people, and We would be just as happy if people did not drop in on Us. At our house.

It may not appear to be a home in a people sense of things, but it is ours, and We like it just fine- without disturbance.

Please tell your friends.

A is for Acacia

Acacias are very tasty indeed, though they are not for everbody, or even every Rhino. They have thorns, which require special internal equipment to digest. For some of Us, easy-peasy.

Acacias grow in clumps, which is convenient for Rhinos. When We have sampled one bush, We proceed from there.

A word of warning: Rhinos are not easy to see when Acacia-ing. We are energtic when surprised.

Resentment

Grudges are a curse for Us Rhinos. Sometimes We cannot seem to let go of an experience, holding it as evidence of one’s Abuse. I’m allowed to pity myself because…

With or without evidence, the trial’s verdict is already in. The Victim is not only holding our hand, but wearing our skin. Poor Me.

What is sad is that Time cannot be grasped retrospectively. The Blame We want to assign changes nothing. It only deceives Us that We do not have the ability to change ourselves. Or to forgive.

Limits

Rhinos are often uncertain about where certain Laws and Regulations originate. They certainly do not come from Us Rhinos. Where are the Arbiters of Rhino Activity enthroned? What do they know of Rhino imperatives and Rhino idiosyncrasies?

We wonder if Rhino Wellbeing is playing a dynamic role where these Rules are being forged.

All pretty Unnatural, if you ask Us.

Paying Attention

Rhinos are not limited in our relationship to the planet or our own small part on it. We are aware, tuned in to all sorts of signals, constantly being sent, all around Us. Our receptors don’t bother to differentiate one stimulus from another; We accept all incoming messages.

And We ourselves send out many messages of our own. Some are deliberate, most are simply the consequence of our being on the scene. Let others make whatever they like of our Rhino presence.

Life in the Wild is ultimately survived by the Alert.

Them Dancing Feeeet!

Once again, it is National Tap Dancing Day, so We are recycling a drawing from 2015. Liked it then, and it has matured, so perhaps it’s even better.

Tap Dancing is a skill that warms our hearts, makes Rhinos wiggle and flap. Not all skill sets provide so much electric pleasure, so We are glad this one didn’t pass by unnoticed.
