Essential Old Friends

This is National Mother Goose Day, and a good thing, too. R Tots are raised with something similar to Mother Goose, things that rhyme and feel jolly and make very little sense. These poems and tales are short and sweet and silly, and do not tax the young R mind too much.

What is invigorating is that the spirit of Mother Goose unites all critters at a basic level, a sense of empowerment when We know We have no power whatever. Tot-hood is a delightful time on one hand, and on the other, a skipping nightmare. We understand nothing, and keep our fingers crossed that “Georgie, Porgie, Pudding and Pie” will do the trick in moments of stress.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. A formula of analysis which ushers us into adulthood, never making sense. So in that way, it is a big help since adulthood is as confusing for the adult as the tot.
