Eugene Ionesco’s play RHINOCEROS opened in 1959, and achieved instant acknowledgement for its powerful warning about mob thinking and the violence of popular movements. This theme is symbolized by people turning into Rhinoceroses (!) and thundering around mindlessly. It’s quite a play.
You will not be surprised that Rhinos, worldwide, were dismayed by this perception of Rhinodom. We are not a herding animal, and are highly individual, not given to political or social manias. Rhinos think for ourselves, right?
Well. At least it’s a good play. Maybe M. Ionesco thought the mention of our name would help sell tickets. If so, he was not wrong.

I learn a lot from reading this blog. It actually made look up that play!
