Mr. Burton is best known for his great opus, “The Anatomy of Melancholy’, printed first in 1621. It is an important forerunner in psychology and self-awareness, a study of mental trials, their causes, and their cures. As far as We Rhinos know, he may have been a jolly fellow himself. Or not.
“What cannot be cured, must be endured” is only one quote from his book, full of insights and common sense suggestions. He spent the last 39 years of his life reworking and improving his book.
What is impressive is that the book, when finished, ran to 900 pages. We Rhinos gulp.
