June 5, 1646 Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia was born in Venice. She had an illustriuos academic career, able to speak 12 languages when all was said and done.
She is also the first woman ever to be awarded the “Magistra et Doctrix Philosophiae” (Professor and Doctor of Philosophy, 1678). She studied both Philosophy and Mathematics at the University of Padua.
