Teensy Bells

Today is, to our surprise and delight, International Fairy Day!

Fairies are elusive, so We have to keep our eyes peeled if We want to see them. Rhinos make rather chunky fairies, but nobody has ever mentioned that, so We assume Fairies come in many styles, Rhinos being only one of them.

We certainly share some harmonic vibrations, for sure and for sure.

Simultaneity

We Rhinos live in a rich atmosphere of Perception and Awareness. We see ourelves one way, and then again, in many others as well. It’s stimulating, but not very dependable. Or maybe it’s inspiring.

Our Readers may feel twinges of jealousy, but once you get in touch with your core, you’ll probably feel just as jolly as We do. Why not?

The Delphic Oracle

Ancient Greece was an intriguing place, one with plenty of remarkable occurrances. So many adventure tales! So many heros and so many gods and goddesses pulling strings.

Delphi is the city of Apollo, a god. Housed there, for thousands of years, the Delphic Oracle answered questions for one and all. Known as the Pythia (for a local serpent) the woman was famous everywhere. She was selected by a group, and as one died, another was selected.

The Pythia sat on a tripod, and inhaled the fumes from the earth in a chamber in Apollo’s basement. The questions were given to her, and she’d answer. Other temple staff translated those answers. The customer never saw or met her.

A Rhino once got elected as an oracle, but quit shortly after getting the job. She said it was no fun and staff was too solemn. It’s one thing to want a job, and another to do it.

Open Wide!

We White Rhinos have 24 teeth, all of them Molars. We need them to smash up the vegetable stuff We munch each day.

We have mighty lips which We use to grasp grasses and stuff, and proceed as usual. We each need lots of fuel.

Each family is designed to do its own thing. In essentials Rhinos are one Thundering Mob, but in the details, We have our distinct eccentricities.

Personal Observations

Rhinos find it interesting that adult Rhinos often feel they are free to say whatever they like, with little attention to how their remarks might make a listener feel.

It is a wonder to many younger Rhinos that snappy responses come as a surprise in these exchanges. Suggesting “Your mouth wants shutting” seldom does the trick.

The young Rhino is at a disadvantage. How much temptation can a Tot withstand? Hm-Hmm?

Tardy but sincere

We had intended to do a series, starting with the Ides of March (March 15), but We got confused with when each of these surprise Ides were slotted. Imagine our blush when We glanced at the calendar and knew WE HAD MISSED THE BOAT.

Rhinos are large critters in many ways, and one of them is our Humility. We acknowledge error when We must, so “Soooooooorrrrrrry”. There, said and done.

We figured this Ide would be concerned with intimate alliances, so here We go, at last. For those of you who are curious, the Ides of June actually happened back on the 13th. Of June.

Altogether

Rhino groups are referred to as a Crash. What humorist came up with that ‘fact’ We Rhinos cannot say. It seems designed to make Us look like Wandering Lunatics, tearing around breaking things and being unruly marauders. And for all We know, noisey.

Rhino groups are not the usual arrangement. We socialize some, then each goes whatever direction dictates itself. We are happy to keep company and We are happy on our own. That capacity for serenity is a Natural Gift.

Sometimes that slips our minds and We Rhinos put our foot (feet?)down and take charge. Then, after that electrifying experience, We resume our default serenitude.

Confusions

Rhinos have plenty of opinions, many of which We hold dear although We would not like to explain them. The sources for these thoughts are many and varied, one often having nothing to do with the next strand of surmise.

When one of Us decides to grasp or express an opinion, We try to confront our own mental gymnastics, which is not a pretty sight.

That is the main reason why We seldom commmit ourselves in discussion. Why walk into that trap?
